Hello, Old Friends It’s been a long time but I’m stuck with a query and all other corners of the internet have failed me. Surely the wise and benevolent and good looking contributors at the ol’ SDMB can help. Trying to remember a webcomic that had an often shared entry in which the author suggests it’s worth celebration when encountering someone who’s never seen/read/heard a beloved piece of pop culture. This is in contrast to the too common reaction of “What!? How can you have never…!?”. The comic suggests, instead, being excited for this person who now gets to experience this thing for the first time. The characters lay out very specific math about how long it takes to experience all of pop culture, how many people are born each day starting at zero, how many people are younger than the age necessary to have experienced all of pop culture. All this leading to a number, x. X is the number of people who have never heard of a particular bit of pop culture. The comic developed some level of meme quality making use of that number that came at the end of the math: “Congratulations, you get to be one of the x!” as a way of saying, “I’m excited for you that you get to experience this cool thing for the first time.” Anybody know the source for this? ---
