Does anyone know if a remote shutter release is made for the Canon Powershot A720 digital camera? If so, where can I find one? I’m finding info on google, but I can’t seem to sort it out. Thanks. ---

What are you trying to achieve? I think you can fire an A720 via USB when it’s hooked to a computer, but I’m not positive (and I’m not sure if the software that comes with it supports it or if you’d need something else). If it’s just for vibration-free triggering, I’ve used the self timer for that purpose on cameras I didn’t have a remote release for, and it worked fine. ---

I was going to respond that I bought some super cheap wireless remote(seriously, it’s $3.25 including shipping!) for my Rebel XT but then I noticed that all the Canon wireless remotes seem to work only on DSLR cameras, so I’m thinking that maybe Canon doesn’t support that feature on point and shoots. Looking at Nikon cameras, it doesn’t look like they support remote shutter releases for non-SLRs either. ---

When I depress the shutter manually it makes the camera move and my pictures are blurry. My hands shake a lot and the motion stabilizer isn’t enough to control it. I’ve researched a bit more and I don’t think there’s one for this camera. ☹ ---

Use a tripod and the self-timer. That’s what I use for all my point and shoot cameras. Or just set the camera on a flat surface as needed. ---

I was going to suggest the exact same thing as Telemark. Self timer + tripod or flat surface. ---

Yeah, I guess I need to get used to using the self-timer. When I set the camera on a flat surface, pressing the shutter makes the camera move. Outside a flat surface may be hard to come by, but at least with the self timer I won’t have that jump when I push the shutter. ---

The self-timer, set to 2 or 10 seconds, gives the camera enough time to come to rest after you hit the shutter button. A bean bag will work as well as a tripod if you have a good surface. ---
