# Removing and reusing granite countertops

How are granite counter tops attached to kitchen cabinets and is it possible to remove the counter tops and reinstall over new cabinets?
My new house has brand new granite counter tops that were installed on 40 year old cabinets. The cabinets are in rather bad shape and need to be replaced. I’d love to reuse the counter tops.

Glued and caulked. I had a new floor put in, and the crew took my island apart. This involved removing the granite top, and then replacing it again with glue and silicone caulk.
You should definitely be able to do the swap.

Just talked to husband (this is what he does for a living - remodeling) and he said it’s doable, however, have the guy who installed it uninstall it - it’s easy to crack them and such so have someone who knows what they’re doing do it.
