Given that the local baseball club has the boring, uncreative, uninteresting, generic name of “Nationals,” I think “Americans” is a suitable boring, uncreating, uninteresting, generic name for the football club. ---

I quite like the Washington Nationals name. It’s sounds ‘old timey’ which helps with baseball. Baseball also has quite a few generic nicknames that have become well known: Oakland Athletics (A’s), New York Mets. So Washington Nationals works well to me. At least it isn’t as weird as the Philadelphia Phillies ;). Oh, and speaking of soccer fans, the MLS club in Washington is named D.C. United - I wonder if the Washington football team is thinking about leaning into D.C.? ---

So, turns out the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL are now shopping for another name. “Inuit” would be the suitable replacement, but that’s not going to happen. Interesting times. ---

Generic animals would work- Wolves, Hawks, Pythons, and so on. Maybe “Cherries” for the cherry blossoms. Generals might work but Washington Generals might be trademarked by the Harlem Globetrotters. Maybe Federals, Knights, Brass. ---
