# Renouncing US Citizenship

I am considering renouncing my US Citizenship while visiting Italy in the near future. I am not a tax evader no have political ambitions to be involved with any other government.

However, I advise you to acquire citizenship of an EU country before you renounce your US citizenship, if you’re going to do it in Italy, as you will otherwise face various practical difficulties (such as having no passport).
