Somebody needs to replace MTG and/or Boebert as the Resident Female Republican Nutcase. Might as well be Palin. ---

Point there. But anyway… Anyone familiar with AK politics know of what plausible contenders could there be for the seat, any putative rising stars among the general clown show? Or is it in fact gonna be Reality TV Central randos on parade? 'cause I don’t get the vibe that either Young or Murkowski were exactly grooming a political heir. ---

The most recognizable name at this point is Nick Begich III. He’s the grandson of Nick Begich, who was a representative in 1970-72, but who died when his plane disappeared on a routine flight to Juneau. He had already won another term when this happened, and his Republican opponent was. . .ready?. . .Don Young, who assumed the seat when it was clear that Begich was not going to be found. I actually had a night class taught by the man in about 1966. Anyway, I’m sure that the grandson sees opportunity here, has the name recognition, and is a conservative. I’m also pretty sure that Nick, Sr. is rolling in his grave at the idea. ---
