Replacing a Sink

Yes, a lesson I re-learned when installing my dishwasher. Never start a project after the hardware store is closed for the day.

Good advice, many thanks to all! I checked out the drain selection at the local hardware store. I am amazed how many choices one has in drain assemblies! Holy cow! And, that’s just one little component! Sheesh!

BTW, I tried reusing the old drain assembly, but the drain hole (top side) has a metal ring (for lack of the correct term) against which the drain plunger seals (for a pop-up drain) which is sealed in place with plumber’s putty. That, plus some rubber grommet piece cannot really take the wear and tear of being installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled. I just bought a new pop-up drain assembly for about $20.

One tip: Think about color! I just bought the first-thing that matched my specs without considering color - bone colored bath fixtures with brass faucet and such. Since I failed to think about this, it’s back to the hardware store once again!
