There is no hell hot enough, or deep enough, for a scumbag such as this.
Corrections:
- Not Tennessee, but Florida. I suck.
- Also, he did apparently try to sue WDBJ after all, so I was wrong again. And suck harder. Sorry.
Wonder when the 23 page manifesto will show up online?
By lifesaving care I hope you mean the doctors have scheduled a meeting next week to discuss what their initial step should be in this lifesaving event.
Along with the usual “Now is not the time …”
Chilling. They were caught up in their interview and didn’t even notice him taking his time to come close aim and fire. One moment you’re just doing your thing on a normal morning the next you get blown away. And the expression on the poor anchorwoman back at the station…
The interviewee is out of surgery and the shooter is in, apparently…
To everyone speculating about the shooter, wondering about what gun he used, or even wishing him dead… Why? Don’t even give this shithead the glory. Don’t make some cop have nightmares about pulling the trigger, justified or not. Let him rot, completely forgotten, making shit finger paintings on the walls of the deepest darkest hole in the world. Flush this piece of shit down the memory hole.
Honor the victims and don’t glorify the shooter.
Sorry, but no. Don’t tell me that I should not read and discuss interesting, newsworthy events just because they are also tragic. The killer is not benefitting from my attention now, and I’m not at all convinced that our silence would prevent future murderers from acting, given the history of our species. Also, I’m not sure why this set of murders is that much worse than any other set of murders out there: because it’s fresh? Because it was televised? Because… something else?
I fixed your link, ZipperJJ.
Thanks, sister.
Yes, by all means, lets ignore news in the real world. Just bury your head in the sand and all will be okay and nothing bad will ever happen.
I’ve seen more “chilling” video on PBSKids.
I know, and in many ways I’d agree with you. But that mofo is real, and it represents the kind of living nightmare none of us should have to encounter or cope with. It bothers me a great deal more than many more violent, gory or tragic clips I’ve seen.
I’m not advocating the ostrich position. Obviously, do what’s necessary to protect yourself and others. Just recognize that by delving into his methods/motives/madness you are giving him exactly what he wants. Notoriety. This guy wanted a soapbox; he doesn’t deserve one.
I disagree. This is still a developing story. Yes, there are probably some sick people out there getting a rush off of watching the video, but there are plenty who are watching it for other reasons. Further, one of the great advantages of modern technology is that we don’t have to depend on news organizations compiling news or giving us second or third-hand versions of events. Here’s an opportunity for us to see what happened and make up our own minds about what happened and why.
Moreso, as this case looked like it may have ended up at various points as it developed, social media played a part in it. What if only the initial video had gotten shared and the shooter wasn’t immediately recognized as a former employee of the station? Maybe sharing that video could have helped identify him. After he was identified and was making posts on social media, but before he was confronted by police, it make his face notorious as he fled into areas that weren’t familiar with him.
Yes, they’re disturbing videos and they’re hard to watch, but I think it’s important NOT to censor stuff like this, even if it was difficult to watch. This is particularly relevant to me because I live in Virginia, not near where the shooting was, but as it turned out, he was headed toward me and not all that far away where he attempted suicide. I’ve received texts and calls from people I know that don’t live around here wanting to know how this situation may be affecting me. As such, I’m thankful that this stuff was spread because it helped to keep me and others informed of the developing story.
To a certain extent, I agree, but it’s WAY too early to be making these sentiments. This story is still developing, as we still don’t know if he’s going to survive his suicide attempt. I think it’s also important to analyze what happened and why so that maybe we can take steps to prevent something like this from happening again. Sure, his name is known now, but I doubt if anyone will remember in a few weeks or months. Hell, even now, though I remember other similar events, I can’t tell you the name of the VT shooter anymore, and that was nearby and much worse. I do remember the beltway sniper names, but that was also a long lasting situation and it directly affected me.
Further, I don’t think that talking about him and the situation is the same thing as glorifying him. No one here, or have I seen anywhere else, has had anything positive to say about him. Even people who personally knew him, I saw one that said they saw signs, just didn’t expect something like this, and another that said he was a nice guy, but his reporting was lousy. Sure, after the story has cooled down and we’ve learned from the situation, we should probably let his name fade into obscurity, but just hours after the shooting happened is way too soon to be worried about that.
Hmm… okay, well I go to check after posting and they just updated that he was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:30 PM.
Very, very sad.
I’m regretting re-posting a link to that video. I only saw that one & I was busy with other tasks away from the PC today.
I wasn’t trying to glorify murder or feed any sort of blood lust. When I saw it, it seemed like it could have been important, but I wasn’t trying to hurt the family of the victims.
I wouldn’t feel bad. I’m glad you posted it and I didn’t have to search for it. It’s very powerful without showing explicit violence. I think it’s informative and not exploitive. I’m sure the families hurt beyond measure and a link on a message board isn’t going to add to their pain.
What a pisser. The cameraman’s fiancée watched it live as it was her last day at the station. I can’t imagine how she made it through the day.
I’m not giving him anything. If my actions happen to benefit him incidentally, so be it. I refuse to change one iota of my behavior with thoughts of him in mind: doing so gives him a power over me that I don’t believe he deserves.
Anyway, no amount of attention is going to bring him a happy, satisfying life. In addition to serious wounds, he’ll be embroiled with the court and / or mental health system for years (edit: or, rather, he’ll be dead). And look at the notoriety that’s followed other mass killers: it will be a nine days’ wonder, if that.
Well he’s dead so that ends that.
Currently staked out at the media farm @ MM17 on I66.
Was monitoring Virginia State Police on scanner when it happened…
Plus it shows him to be the deranged loser everybody already thought he was. Whenever one of these nuts responds to whatever persecution they believe, it just confirms that those who thought less of the nut were right on target.
