The vBulletin user groups were copied into the Title field on Discourse. vBulletin user names were copied into the Name field on Discourse. New users do not go through the database transfer process (obviously, since they were never members on vBulletin) and will not have these fields automatically filled in. We tried to tell everyone to contact us if they were having issues accessing their account under Discourse, but that ended up being a lot like trying to herd cats. A lot of users created new accounts instead. We can still fix things if someone wants access to their old account, but it’s a lot more difficult for us to do it if the user has created a new account. Still can’t believe it took me two years to notice this. I could probably put this example in the “First thing to go” thread under vision.
