Over the last few years, large numbers of Trump bumper stickers, hats & suchlike were seen, here in Middle Tennessee. This is changing. They are becoming quite scarce. The local flea markets were overrun with Trumpist merchandise. The Nashville Flea Market (visited last week) had very little… The local Craft Fair (visited this morning) had none. No sign of Trump Stuff for a while. Does this reflect a “cooling” of Trump Fever? 🧯 ---

It’s possible that, by this point, most people who want Trump merchandise have already bought it and there is little need to buy more. ---

It’s possible that they’ve already spent all they had on the MAGA gewgaws (say _that_ three times fast) and “campaign” (ie, his pockets) donations. [But on a positive note, he _did_ get **[his 757](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10989551/Trump-Force-One-hits-skies-fall-Ex-president-gets-jet-midterms-heat-up.html)** remodeled.] Lastly, maybe there’s little of if left in the secondary market because it was all overpriced crap that barely lasted through one rally 😉 ---

There’s plenty of Trump merch being displayed around here. By owners, not sellers; I don’t frequent the sorts of stores that might carry Trump merch. But what I do see is all 2024-themed, not 2020-themed, so somebody someplace is selling this fairly fresh stuff to the rubes. And I have no doubt this is just the teeniest pre-ripple of the tsunami of merch to be sold and displayed starting about a year from now. ---

We’re in ‘The County’, and I know there are a lot of Conservatives here. There’s one guy in a full-size American pickup who drives around with American flags, Trump flags, etc. flying from it. But on my walks, I pass a house with a couple of [Alicia Rule](https://housedemocrats.wa.gov/rule/) (D - State House Representative) signs in the front yard. Yesterday as I was cooking dinner, Alicia Rule came to our door. My wife answered the door and I only caught a glimpse of Ms. Rule, but The Missus assured her we will vote for her. Afterward, my wife said, ‘She looked hot.’ I was like, ‘Really? What was she wearing?’ She anticipated my retort though, so she clarified that the looked hot from going door-to-door on a warm, sunny day. We’re used to the occasional canvasser coming by, but I must say I’m impressed to see a candidate doing her own footwork. ---

Trump was also traveling with that Lindell creature, who introduced him. One could get a photo with the orange asshole for a mere $20K. What a huckster. ---

The big sports franchises have this figured out with frequent modifications to their jerseys etc. You’d think that as soon as sales started dropping off, the grifter would evolve the MAGA branding so that the faithful must all buy new hats to signal their undiminished virtue. ---

They have amended heir branding. The slogan for 2024 is “Take Back America”. Which is really chilling in its implications. But does accurately express their core market: male white supremacists who mistakenly think they’re Christian. ---

Can anyone sell Trump merch or are you required to get permission and presumably pay Trump a fee to use his name, voice, likeness, etc? I know he’s a public figure, but does he still own his image? ---

Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean that Trumpism is fading or gone. I think that he realizes that he will not be the Republican candidate for president in the 2024 election, too much baggage even for him. He is now relishing his role as a kingmaker for other conservative candidates, it feeds his ego more. He still has a lot of things to say and can do so now without campaigning. I would not recommend relaxing before November’s election. ---

Until about a year ago, there was a store on the SB side of Route 1 north of Boston (Peabody?). It was called New Englanders for Trump. After the election, they had a big sign in one of the windows “We Will Not Be Silenced.” A few weeks later they had another sign in a different window: “Going out of Business.” The first sign was still there. Boy I wish I had got a photo of that. ---

The good people of Hooterville were mostly considerate patriots who cared about other people. Even Mr. Haney would have seen through Trump’s bullshit and voted for someone else. I don’t think I ever frequented any location that sold a significant amount of Trump garbage, but I still see Trump 2020 signs in people’s yards.
