For anyone who thinks that George Santos is totally un-electable, consider these facts: - Fact 1: He might be endorsed by a popular Republican who, in addition to glowing with the same bright orange hue as a dying sun, has told more lies in a single day than Santos has in his entire life, and has effectively positioned himself as _mein Fuhrer_ of the Republican party. - Fact 2: He seems to have abandoned his distinctive black-frame glasses, so that voters – exhibiting all the perception and wisdom we usually associate with voters – will not know he is. ---

I am pretty sure I know why Santos is running. [CNN: George Santos appears in federal court as trial looms later this year](https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/23/politics/george-santos-court-hearing/index.html) > The next court proceeding is scheduled for August 13. A trial is expected in September. I expect this is a delaying tactic inspired by his dear leader Donald Trump, to request pushback of the trial in order to not interfere with the election. I have a feeling it won’t work, but that’s my WAG. ---

Allegedly boeberting to NY-1 so he can primary challenge Rep. LaLotta, one of the R’s who led the calls to remove him. i.e. he wants to try to cost the NY GOP another district. ---

It’s rated R+3, although the current R won by 10 points in 2022. But even if it stays R, there’s the risk of collateral damage. Every NY Democrat could use Santos as an example of the ridiculousness of the Republican party, whether they’re running against him directly or not. That could sway a close race. ---

And it potentially forces LaLotta to waste time and money up front that he could use to support other R candidates or in his own general campaign. OTOH George can just be throwing shit around for the lulz. ---
