True Trump was good, except for telling Bush to be quiet, he left the old woman property thing hanging and not resolving it, and his usual China comment, describing people as “tremendous people” and his closing statement could have been much stronger. He should gone into details about foreign policy, tax, economy, healthcare instead of the usual generic “winning”. But many of his answers were good.

Yes he does very well in giving answers of substance.

David Muir is perhaps the best moderator at any of these debates these last few months.

Great night for TRUMP, Christie, and to a lesser extent Carson against the Cuban-Floridian-Bush family cabal.

TRUMP eviscerated Jeb! (once again emphasizing his toughness) on the eminent domain question by connecting it with the conservative fetish for Keystone XL even as he proved his compassionate patriotism by vowing to let no man die in the streets for lack of health care.

Christie did the Lord’s work by exposing Rubio as a completely brainless, right-wing blowup doll who seems to have never had an original thought besides repeating AEI and Heritage Foundation talking points. People say Sarah Palin is dumb but hell she at least says things that she thought up-Rubes is just a doubleplusgood duckspeaker.

I’ve watched that about five times (starting earlier, when the debate was originally on) and it has literally brought me to tears every time. I don’t know if that will ever not be funny. Why did Carson start to go out, and then come back? Why did he then brush off the stagehand/stage manager guy? Did Trump say “we screwed it up” or “you screwed it up”? And did you see Jeb’s expression after he passed the two of them? That might have been my favorite part.

It seems like he \*still \*has trouble with dry mouth. Does he have some kind of medical condition or something?

Yeah, I thought for a second there was some kind of glitch that caused the audio to repeat, but then Christie interjected to point out what he was doing. I suspect he has really gotten in Rubio’s head now–he showed why he got hired as a federal prosecutor.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised. I wanted them to ask all the candidates, or at least see if anyone wanted to raise their hand to disagree. Carson, maybe? Did Cruz answer? I don’t remember.

The eminent domain was mixed for Trump, his handling of Bush was not good and he left the attack on seizing he old woman’s property was left hanging. Trump should have addressed that and settled it in a way favorable to him.

It was going well for Bush until he let Trump talk over him for a long time. When Trump finally shut up, Bush stupidly addressed him instead of restating what he had been trying to say.

When it was Trump’s turn, Bush made a short comment and Trump just told him to shut up and he did. Totally bullied again. The smart brother indeed.

George would have snickered at him and said, “Asshole.” and then make a point of loudly farting whenever Trump tried to speak for the rest of the debate.

Good god that’s bad! It seems like Martha Raddatz’ (Raddatz’s? Nevermind…) voice wasn’t cutting through the crowd noise. Carson sure took a simple goof up and turned it into a gem of comedy, though. He even snared Trump in his trap!! Ha-ha.

It brings me to tears every time I watch it. I think I understand what happened. I think the confusion occurred because they couldn’t hear the announcer over the applause. I suspect the stage manager sent them out one at a time saying stand there until they finish announcing your name and Carson and Trump didn’t hear their names. And the omission of Kasich was totally the fault of the announcer, or whoever wrote his notes or script. So it may not have really been the fault of any of the candidates, but it’s still funny as hell. 😃

I just realized that immediately after Bush, the announcer said something like “and Ohio Governor John Christenson” which apparently was supposed to be Kasich.

I didn’t watch the debate, but I’ve seen the videos of Marcobot’s “malfunction” and I just have to say:

THANK YOU CHRIS CHRISTIE

It’s about time that Rubio was exposed as the weaselly incompetent automaton that he is.

Love that, love that, love that!

I watched about a half hour, then gave up when all the questions were variations on, “Candidate A said this about you; let’s you and him fight.” Did they ever get around to any issue-based questions of substance?

Can anybody explain to me why we need “to rebuild the military”? This seems to be a constant meme with these guys, when there is zero indication that the military is suffering from under funding. Must be some sort of sop to the military worshipers.

I managed to get through an hour of this latest wank-fest. The opening was high comedy indeed, especially with Carson refusing to go out and the stage hand telling him to get his ass on stage. It could only have been better if Rubio had gotten a hook when he kept repeating his desperate “everybody hate Obama now!” rant.

Did the moderators ever get around to asking them what they would do in response to a domestic terror incident like the Malheur problem? They’re all so interested in bombing the shit out of people, after all.

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen it, other than the side-splitting opening which I posted above.

I had other obligations last night and my TIVO recently died. Anyone know if the full debate is online anywhere?

This just goes to show the insincerity of these people.

If they really want to appeal to their base while at the same time talking about a _real_ need, they should talk about funding veterans programs.

Because they want our military to be capable of invading Syria, and Iran, and Cuba, and Russia, and Mexico, and Venezuela, and North Korea, and Fiji, and China, and, for all I know, St. Pierre and Miquelon, all at the same time.

Meanwhile, we will also be putting ground troops into battle against Al Qaeda and ISIS and Boko Haram and, for all I know, the IRA, also all at the same time.

Meanwhile, the wounded and maimed veterans of these wars, and the widows/widowers and children of those killed will get the usual: diddly-squat.
