Though I am a firm believer in human-caused climate change, I do agree that it is both meaningless and silly to pinpoint one area’s bad weather and blame it (or credit it) to human involvement.

Obviously God is to blame for the drought, am I right?

They also exported Bieber and Dion… and I’m not convinced they aren’t secretly responsible for Bachmann.

**Joel** , I’d agree that it’s as wise to blame the current Texas drought on global warming as it is to think you’re seeing all the relevant data from within a June and July window.

I’ve lived amongst these people for many years now, and I can vouch for that. Minnesotans are no less crazy than anyone else, but they aren’t so obvious about it.

Being the state that has now elected Jesse Ventura and Michelle Bachmann to office, i would not think that Minnesota ever has to worry about being thought of as LESS crazy then other areas.

ETA: except maybe Kansas. kansas may have them beat.

Jesse went to his Inaugural Ball dressed in a Jimi Hendrix T-shirt and a fluorescent pink feather boa. Yes, he is an ignorant lout, but _damn!_

And these people can be moved to wild enthusiasm. When the Twins won the World Series, people were honking car horns as late as one a.m.!!

Not to mention long-leggedy Nordic beauties who spend $5 a year on makeup. Oh, wait, I guess I did mention it, didn’t I?

But don’t move here, because its cold. Terrible, bitter cold. Stay away. Maybe Iowa. Iowa is nice.

Oh, and ice spiders.

If that’s the case then God seems to be equally unhappy with a lot of other states…in some cases much more than Texas. Have you noticed all the damage and deaths from those hurricane thingies? And all that flooding stuff? Or does God only make his displeasure known using drought and fire?? And does it only count when his wrath falls on Republican governors?

How many months without rain do you think you can go before you have drought conditions? Water down in the aquifer doesn’t help much unless someone pumps it up. It you actually have data to suggest that Dr. Spencer analysis is wrong, go ahead and present it.

Frankly discussing rainfall for Texas is pretty silly, since it varies from desert to rice growing country.

Actually it really upsets me when people like Bachmann try to claim things like Hurricane Irene was supposed to be a wake-up call from God to lawmaker’s in D.C…

So if we are going to play that card, let’s also say He’s reponsible for all the fires and drought here in Texas, a very conservative state. Obviously our law makers are angering him, so if they all became liberal democrats the wildfires would stop and the rain would come, right? Just like if Washington solved our economic problems by turning to economic conservatism, hurricane Irene would’ve headed south to Venezuela instead, wouldn’t it?

Just for the sake of disclosure to everyone here, I AM AN ATHIEST who does not believe God has natural disasters conjured up to punish people. I’m just making fun of the fact that people are quick to blame democrats for encurring the wrath of God, but you NEVER hear liberal law-makers saying that God has conjured up a storm, drought, etc to punish conservatives.

At least… I haven’t ever heard it.

I think it’s silly when anyone claims that God is wreaking havoc on the countryside because of the Democrats/Republicans who are in charge. Obviously God works in mysterious ways, and is using the dart board method to plot which disasters He wants to spring on us as a huge cosmic joke.

And just for the sake of full disclosure here, I’m actually a flaming, bible thumping theist who fervently believes God has a large cosmic dart board, but doesn’t use it since He already knows ahead of time which natural disasters He is going to perpetrate (being omniscient and omnipotent and all).

Ok, not really…

Not to derail my own thread… but if _ **im** _potent means you can’t have sex/get it up/have kids/etc… what would that imply _ **omni** _potent means? Is God the ultimate lady’s man?

If God could make a rock so big that even He couldn’t lift it, yet DID lift it because by creating such a rock He then could grow even more in limitless power and strength then, well…think what he could do with His penis size!

Of course, that might limit His possibilities for sexual partners, since most females aren’t going to be too keen on a cock that’s measured in light years…

It’s curious alright. It’s almost like there is some mysterious X Factor that causes Texan politicians to view people buying a lot of oil at high prices as a good thing. And it’s weird - I see the same thing among politicians in Alaska and Alberta, areas far away from Texas. But I can’t imagine what would would cause this…
