Purpleish? No chance unless you clone Sherrod. Vance is smart, motivated, and a true believer authoritarian. He’s a good pick to help enact some of the worst possibilities of a Trump presidency. Has a good story (if you don’t look into how much he resents/hates poor people) too, which I suspect will help politically. Wish he made a crazier pick. ---

Despite not reacting to this, Nour was falsely accused of “assault” by a Texas State police officer on the scene and we are told she will be taken to a Milwaukee Police Department. No charges have been filed as of this release. Notably, two other CODEPINK staff members ahead of her in line passed through without any issues, raising concerns of racial profiling. It is a microcosm of the misogyny at the RNC that the more gentle non-violent woman, the only Palestinian in line with our group is assaulted and then even when she did not respond she was the one who was arrested. CODEPINK unequivocally states that no one from our organization assaulted anyone. We attended the RNC to deliver a message of peace and disarmament, adhering strictly to non-violent protest methods. ---

My best friend in high school wanted to replicate Hunter S. Thompson’s experience by watching the entire Republican convention while tripping on acid. That was in 1984, and the idea had no appeal to me then. Now…I can’t even imagine.
