I’d say it makes a lot of sense. It was the first major appearance of a relatively unknown quantity, one of whose demographics is a still somewhat of a novelty in Presidential politics. Add that to the folks already enthusiastic about her for her political views, and you have a ratings winner. (Not to mention anyone who was bored of Obama and/or McCain already. :))

Edit: Quantity was actually more important (to the second sentence) than quality! Imagine that!

I’m sorry. I can understand why a rabid Obama supporter might be extra terrified of a “little girl” today. Your stuttering, jug-eared doofus candidate with zero experience and absolutely no accomplishments, and an appalling lack of judgement when it comes to choosing friends and/or associates (Rezko, Wright, Ayers), received a smack-down for the ages last night.

Yes. Clearly Obama’s skyrocketing donations are good news for McCain.

Meanwhile, the latest CBS News poll has the race tied; this even before McCain’s convention speech!

“The presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain is now even at 42 percent, according to a new CBS News poll conducted Monday-Wednesday of this week.”

And, of course, since this IS CBS News I’m fairly sure you can add at least 6 or 7 points to McCain’s numbers.

He didn’t so much as mention Palin or McCain. He listed the things that the Democrats have talked about that the Republicans haven’t in their convention. How is that running scared or even striking back?

Or am I seeing the wrong clip? This one is from York, PA, and it’s 1:58 in length.

Interesting the gap was closed by Obama decreasing in his numbers and McCain not moving up at all.

Three cheers for Republican smear tactics! I wouldn’t expect it to last once the Reps get away from a choreographed convention and they let reporters at Palin for once.

[Today’s Daily Rasmussen](http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll):
Obama 50%
McCain 45%

McCain 42%

Here’s the money shot:

> [@Rasmussen](#):
>
> Last night’s polling shows that, by a ten-to-one margin, voters believe reporters are trying to hurt Palin’s campaign rather than help. Republicans and unaffiliated voters strongly believe that a double standard is being applied to Palin because she is a woman. Democrats disagree. Perhaps most stunning is that, among unaffiliated voters, just 42% believe Obama has better experience than Palin to be President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) say Palin has the edge on experience. Again, most of the interviews for this survey were completed before Palin’s well-received speech last night.

Meanwhile, Obama tells Bill O’Reilly tonight that he was totally wrong about the surge in Iraq. (Well, not in those words!)

“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”
[http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/04/obama-surge-succeeded-beyond-wildest-dreams/](http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/04/obama-surge-succeeded-beyond-wildest-dreams/)

So let’s recap: Biden blew it with his initial vote in support of the war, and Obama was absolutely wrong to oppose the surge. Yep, this certainly is a pair of foreign policy brainiacs, huh?

Meanwhile, McCain supported the war, parroted the Bush talking points about how quick and painless it would be. And Palin she, um, she…her thoughts on the war were, ummm…well regarding the surge she was, hmmm…She read about it in the paper, she said, so she’s got that going for her…
