Republicans losing thier minds as a nigger gets closer to being POTUS

Wow, I googled that just to see for myself. I am honestly disgusted that those people are Americans. Jesus.

Exactly. If you are not condemning the opinions and spite and hate seen in that video or saying that you are ashamed to have them in your party, then you are, IMO, one of them.

Condi Rice is indeed qualified, but her area of expertise is not modern day foreign policy. She’s a Cold War expert. Essentially she’s had to learn on the job. Nothing wrong with that (and I would hope any Sec of State would do so) but it put her at a disadvantage in a time when we needed someone up to speed now. Perhaps there was no such person. Condi’s race has nothing to do with her job performance or her abilities. But I do think that Bush et al looked at her and said, “woman AND black–yes! we can shut up the critics.” That she’s a close friend of the Bushes didn’t hurt.

All this said, I don’t think W is racist; I doubt most of his appointees are racist. I do think the majority of the GOP is. But then I think that of the majority of Americans, too.

Next you guys will be saying he pals around with terrorists…oh, wait…

If you’re referring to Clarence Thomas, I’d say that “jackass” would come to mind sooner.

NASCAR?! Gosh, is that still legal?

I live in a city with a significant Muslim population, and trust me when I say that 98% of them are a bunch of towel-headed, woman-hating, plane-bombing, kuffar-killing, clit-cutting, homo-squashing, ululating Allah-botherers who are so stupid they’re only voting for Obama because his middle name is Hussein. Trust me on this one. Anybody who says otherwise is a liar.

You can post from Billy Bob’s, who knew?
Parody doesn’t really work when it’s not, you know, funny.

TWEEEET!

The generalized name calling of people for simply belonging to a political party with which one disagrees along with other stupid antics are getting too close to being leveled at other posters.

Knock it off.

If anyone has an overwhelming need to categorize “all” of any group as racists, terrorists, or kitten kickers, go take it to the Pit. It does nothing to actually promote a discussion and it simply encourages other posters to resort to the same stupid vitriol rather than actually considering and commenting in a reasoned manner.

You know someone’s bound to Pit you for not stepping in until someone insulted Muslims, don’t you?

Is there any point to keeping this thread open? I’m a Democrat, and it makes me ill to see a topic like this on this board.

*Bolding mine.

You mean like the thread title? I am still in shock and awe that this is allowed to stand in GD…

I disagree with the first. I think Rice got the job because she is loyal, a team player. (The whole intelligent-and-capable thing helped … then again, maybe not.

As for Racism and Republicans … I remember the chants of “You’re too stupid to vote” in front of the supreme court over the Florida debacle. But I also remember a similar level of hate-filled frothing at the mouth of the Clinton impeachment. Racism may be the expression, but I don’t think it is the actual issue …

I don’t have any theory about what is; I just don’t get it. Maybe they hate us for our freedoms …

Being left-handed always means you’re evil. That’s why they call it sinister.

It was a typo. He meant to say “Obama is a’near!”

We would like to extend a laurel, and a hearty handshake, to our new…

It can be reasonably argued that you’re asking for a job description that cannot possibly be filled by any human being. The challenges that will face a Secretary of State are always new challenges. The world is never going to be the same in the next four years as it was in the past.

What has Rice done wrong as Secretary of State?

You feel that strongly over stickers and videos of questionable provenance?

The hard part of riding a tiger is the dismount…

You may well be right. Maybe people (right and left) only need excuses to bring their hatred forth. I don’t know. But I do know it’s sickening and I had thought better of my country and its citizens. Naive of me.

RickJay–did you miss my very next sentence: Perhaps there was no such person? I don’t know that anyone could have been up to speed as was needed post 9/11. But I do think Rice served the Bush WH very well in terms of appearing to be all inclusive and PC. I don’t think W’s racist for placing her there or racist if he had never used her–I’m saying that it was a political move to put her there, not only for her skills, but also as a sop.
RE the people voting only because Obama’s middle name is Hussein. People vote for all manner of reason–most of them not reasoned, logical and well thought out. There’s not much anyone can do about that. I used to be so optimistic and hopeful and think that if only we could educate people, we could make a better world. Well, ignorance can only be fought if the mind is open and the person willing to learn. It’s not so much an excuse for those people (or the ones who support Palin because she’s a woman) as it just* is*. That doesn’t make it right or just or good, but I honestly don’t know how to fight that sort of thing or if it’s even worth trying.

This whole notion that Republicans who don’t want to vote for Obama, or dislike him, or fear what he might do is a function of racism is specious. For some people that is probably the reason. Yes, some people are racist. And some of them are Republicans. But before that badge gets attached to anyone, one simple though experiment is called for: how would these supposed racists feel if the person running were Colin Powell or Michael Steel? If a Republican wouldn’t vote for them if they were the candidate, we’d be much closer to a fair charge of racism. As it is, it is perfectly plausible and likely that they don’t like Obama for his ideas and policies. And even for his associations with Rezko, Ayers, Wright, etc.

Some in this thread bristle that they can’t just throw the accusation around lightly, that it should have to be proven. It should. Can you imagine throwing around some other ugly accusation—pedophile, wife-beater, thief, liar—and not be suspected to have proof before you do so?

Of course not, or Bush would never have hired her. Bush hires toadies and incompetents, and sacrificial cannon fodder like Powell.

They’d hate them too. No doubt they’d be less open about it, but they’d never vote for them as the Republican candidate.
