This seems to have slipped our attention: DeSantis signed a law making sex crimes against children punishable by the death penalty. And he lowered the threshold – an 8-4 recommendation is all that’s needed. Fine, right? Except for all the laws against LGBT people! You could end up getting the death penalty for being gender non-conforming. Oh, sure - I was a tomboy in the 1970’s. Can’t tell you how many times I was pressured to wear skirts/dresses instead of pants. Some people got really, really worked up about it. We’re returning to that time. And even earlier when gender non-conformity was even more fraught. ---
