> I think it would be funny if the GOP is leading the impeachment charge to get him out of their hair (and to install Pence) and the Democrats have to try to fight against impeachment to make them wallow in the Trump suckitude and keep Pence out.

The Dems should fight to keep Trump in. As VP, Pence doesn’t have much power no matter what Trump wants him to do.

Granted, Trump will probably sign whatever is shoved under his nose but it’s still better than Pence holding power.

> How about violate the Constitution, like [Trump is about to do](https://thinkprogress.org/trump-poised-to-violate-constitution-his-first-day-in-office-george-w-bushs-ethcs-lawyer-says-73e14789a935#.qlf4c5ajr)?

According to the article you linked -

_The Constitution’s “Emoluments Clause,” provides that “no person holding any office of profit or trust under” the United States “shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.”_

Which office “of profit or trust” does Trump currently hold? It seems to me that you need to hurry over to Trump’s hotel and administer the oath of office as quickly as possible. However, lame-duck Obama might object.

So, he’ll stop whoring as soon as we actually marry him? Very reassuring.

‘About to do’ means ‘in the future’. I’m surprised they don’t teach that in school these days.

What **elucidator** said.

(post shortened)

According to the linked article, the event took place Friday. Are you suggesting that they’re going back to the future?

\*Friday evening, the Washington Post reported that about 100 foreign diplomats gathered at President-elect Donald Trump’s hotel in Washington, DC to “to sip Trump-branded champagne, dine on sliders and hear a sales pitch about the U.S. president-elect’s newest hotel.” The tour included a look at the hotel’s $20,000 a night “town house” suite. \*

and

_The **incoming** president, in other words, is actively soliciting business from agents of foreign governments._

I wonder what the author means when he says, “incoming president”? Is he suggesting that Trump is not currently in an office “of profit or trust”?

> Oh, but wait, Republicans are the party of lower taxes…

True, but the money would come from the same source as the rest of his infrastructure plans-a huge increase in the deficit. The republican party is all in favor of increased deficits when their president is spending the money. It is only when there is a democratic president that deficits matter.
