# Resolved: Germany was the aggressor against France in WWI

Wait - [you previously told us](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/what-if-germany-fights-it-out-in-1918/823871/37) that Germany only got a tiny toehold in France, just two days’ march, so that claims of France suffering due to WWI were vastly overblown and the Versailles Treaty was a big overreaction.

But now, you see France as having been devastated by the German invasion and occupation.

I guess that’s progress. 🤪
