resolved - I will no longer hate Trump supporters

Hell, I didn’t vote for the nut-job. But I believe any one can have their own opinion about the guy. If they want to rant about him fine , my point is that you aren’t going to change their minds. I don’t think any less of them or the Dems. I Don’t go out and call them stoopid and ignorant, if someone thinks differently than me great. Sure be boring the other way. I guess that’s tolerance, no?

Who deserves tolerance? I don’t give any tolerance to bigots, nor do I have any use for those to whom bigotry is not a deal breaker. You’re talking about supporting a man who talks about shithole countries, who says that Mexicans are rapists and drug dealers. You’re talking about supporting a man who mocks the disabled, someone who they had to hide black employees from when he came onto the floor of his casino. You’re talking about supporting a man who bought beauty pageants so that he could barge into the dressing rooms of teenage contestants. You’re talking about supporting a man who openly boasted about being a sexual predator. It is impossible to support this guy and also be a good person. Certainly you cannot be a good American if you support a guy because he hates the same people that you do. Maybe he fooled some good people in 2016, but he has no good people supporting him now.

Hammering away at the deplorables and their fearless leader will not cause many of them to change their beliefs, but it will affect the development of beliefs by people who have yet to become politicized.

By analogy, did the push against racism actually change the beliefs and behaviours of racists who believed in racism? No, however, many people growing up while observing the back and forth between racists and anti-racists chose not to become racists.

To the extent that I consider any of them “stupid and ignorant”, it is not their inherent support for Trump but rather the rationales many of them offer, most of which are rooted neither in fact or logic.

For one example, when someone tells me that Obama - who famously attended church for decades (remember Reverend Wright?), referenced his belief in Jesus as his “Lord and Savior” in his books and spontaneously sang “Amazing Grace” at a funeral for a pastor killed in a mass shooting - is “a Muslim”, but that Trump - who doesn’t attend church, refers to the Eucharist as “eating the little cracker”, has used multiple National Prayer Breakfasts to give speeches about how great he is compared to other people, and is rather famously a philanderer, liar, fraud, bully, casino owner, and sexual assailant - is a “good Christian”… I may not mention it to them directly but I feel comfortable categorizing that person as an ignorant moron. And I’ve encountered a lot of people making such assertions.

Do I “hate” them? Not really. But I hate what they’ve done to this country.

And in a speech Trump said “TWO” Corinthians when citing a verse instead of saying SECOND Corinthians.

So what? I bet you’re a member of the spelling and grammar police too.

I’m no going to call you on all this nonsense. I’ve lived with bigot s and chose to dismiss them. I refuse to get all bent out of shape for the crap he’s said or done. We’ve Put upwith the hypocrites known as Ford, Bush 1/2 Clinton and Obama. Still here I’m out.

I hate them. I wish I were bigger than that, but I’m not.

On my worst days, I imagine being magically able to strip them of every political right they enjoy as Americans, banishing them – each and every one of them, and their offspring, for life – from ever again having a say in any decision having anything to do with how the nation is governed. Then I realize this is exactly what they want for us, so I’ve basically become as bad as they are. Which of course makes me hate them even more.

Me? No, I can’t spell my way out of a wet paper bag. A comment on his being seen by some folks as a good Christian and yet doesn’t know basic terminology.

If you’re representative of the democratic party why would anyone want to be a part of all the hate that is pent up inside you people. The democrats (I thought) were the party of love and inclusiveness. Democrats have a lot of work to do to bring their party together. As it stands now it is fractured and divided. Democrats have abandoned the gays and black people in order to woo illegal immigrants into their party. The party of inclusiveness now only has old, white, rich people running as nominees. The exact people they claim to abhor. Why is that?

Do Not Feed the Troll.

"Science has unequivocally shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response when faced with stimuli that may be perceived as threatening. A classic study in the journal Science found that conservatives have a stronger physiological reaction to startling noises and graphic images compared to liberals. A brain-imaging study published in Current Biology revealed that those who lean right politically tend to have a larger amygdala — a structure that is electrically active during states of fear and anxiety. And a 2014 fMRI study found that it is possible to predict whether someone is a liberal or conservative simply by looking at their brain activity while they view threatening or disgusting images, such as mutilated bodies. Specifically, the brains of self-identified conservatives generated more activity overall in response to the disturbing images.

So how does this help explain the unbridled loyalty of Trump supporters? These brain responses are automatic, and** not influenced by logic or reason. **"

“Gee… I dunno, professor Breitbart!”

“Well, Billy, I’ll tell you. It’s because they aren’t like us. They’re terrible, terrible people who want to destroy this great nation and everything it stands for. It’s up to us, the Republicans, to protect America from the Democrats and their wicked schemes.”

“Gosh! I want to be a Republican!”

“Heh, well, it’s never too early to start. Billy, have you heard anything about QAnon?”

OK, the set up is friggin’ gold, “How do you woo an illegal immigrant?”. Punch has gotta be something about QAnon… Anyone?

IANA Democrat but personally I hate bigotry, authoritarianism, and open corruption and criminality, all of which are endemic in the current Republican Party and the President in particular. Don’t you hate those things?

Democrats have always been disorganized and chaotic, as Will Rogers famously observed.

Remember when I mentioned people with rationales rooted neither in facts nor logic? Don’t be one of those people. This is nonsense born of right-wing propaganda.

Firstly, you’re only looking at the top race. At every level below that, from Congress on down, the Democrats remain a very diverse party (particularly in comparison to the main alternative). Secondly, while the field has narrowed to a few remaining candidates (of which Bernie is not particularly rich and Tulsi Gabbard neither old nor, arguably, white (and I don’t know if she’s rich)), the original field was quite diverse; we only lost one of the women candidates and the openly gay candidate this week. The fact that the Democrats have narrowed it down to a bunch of septuagenarians is unfortunate but that’s politics in general these days, particularly if you’re in a national contest and trying to “woo” the sort of Trump voters who recognize that he’s a flaming shitshow but get all squirrelly over the thought of voting for someone who isn’t some kind of reassuring father figure.

Becuase you know it isn’t, hence your cowardly lack of elaboration.

Which makes you a shitty person, eenerms. Fucking own it.

And introducing, folks, the world’s most fucked-up false equivalence since Goebbels tried to compare leiderhosen to tuxedos.

Penis compensation.

Never tried offering money. Does it work?
