Idiots, yes, it’s just plain sad, too. Is celebrating Halloween actually equivalant with devil worship?? Don’t the religiously inclined get All Saints Day and All Souls Day to spend in church? I don’t care if fundies want to hold “Harvest Festivals”, but ‘come dressed as your favorite Saint’ - that must be a sight! Seeing as how many saints have met gruesome demises, I’ll wager some of those costumes might blend right in with Halloween. (I was once forced to attend religious ed classes after school at a nearby Catholic school, St. Cecilia’s. I kid you not, at the end of the hallway was a life size plaster statue of this saint, lying on a platform, with her throat clearly cut and blood dripping on the floor! :eek: Creeped me out… What’s WITH that, anyway???) ---

Yes, but they don’t realize it. Having been in those kidns of churches, its easy to get caught up in it, but really. Most are brought up to know its costumes and candy. Though i don’t care for scary costumes, I like weirdness, such as santa, easter bunny, or billy mays. ---

My old elementary school banned Halloween costumes after a Jehovah’s Witness parent complained. So everyone suffered because one cult member complained. ---

Halloween has become more popular over here in recent years, although there’s no trick-or-treating. It’s mostly adult parties and theme nights in the bars. But still, we’re getting more letters to the editor in the Bangkok newspapers from fundie Americans decrying the Satan worship. :rolleyes: ---

Yes, as I was gleefully lighting our jack-o-lanterns last night, our neighbor felt compelled to tell me they are Christians and that her husband thinks Halloween is evil, though she likes it, and she and the kids all dress up and trick or treat. She also seems to fear that we are pagans or devil worshippers. I guess because we wear a lot of black and don’t go to church. We’re dull as can be–work, raise kids, do chores, but we’re somehow scary and possibly satanic. ---

You have the weird belief that you may be a devil worshipper. And then despite the fact the husband truly believes Halloween is evil, he lets his kids dress up and go out for it. True, only a shlub would take Halloween that seriously, but if you DID take it that seriously, really and truly did, why would you let your children participate?? ---

We even had “Halloween treats” at work on Friday, though most of the women (yes, it was only the women who were expected to provide food!) prepared breakfast foods rather than traditional Halloween goodies. ---
