Responsibility for Paying for Emergency Medical Care

And then there are these;

An old neighbor and wonderful friend who is no longer with us brought his ambulance bill over after we transported his wife for a hip fracture. His bill back then was in the $400 range (BLS) and his Blue Cross covered all but $20.00
He asked me what he was suppose to do with this bill, and I chuckled as I know him so well, and said there is only 2 things you can do.
Well he took the 2nd of the 2 and didn’t pay the 20 bucks and at the time I didn’t know it but after all the problems that arose after this medical emergency with his daughter taking her mother and a divorce forced on him and I helped him with his financial’s the old boy was worth over a million bucks!

I paid an insurance claim once for an ambulance transport from literally across the street to a (expensive) hospital. The bill was around a thousand dollars. I did a double take when the “dispatch time” and “arrival time” on the run report attached to the claim was different by one minute. So you had the entire base ALS charge and the minimum 1 mile ALS loaded mile charge…
