He looks like an extremely elderly man that lives in a hospice/nursing home. Of course its not pretty. Sad yes, pretty no. ---

Lying in State in the Capitol is the purview of the House and Senate, not the President. Though I wouldn’t put it past these leaders to be such petty putzes. Or for him to have drafted instructions to keep him no closer to DC than Annapolis, if even that. ---

I couldn’t take it, either, at this point in my life (mid-70s), but during summers in college I worked as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home. Hospice workers are amazing people giving dignity and kindness to the dying, like my late mom. ---

I saw this in my elderly grandmothers before they passed. I was in my teens and early 20s and provided some care for them so I’ve seen this condition before. It was not shocking to see Jimmy this way. ---

To be honest, I’m actually glad he passed while Joe Biden is still president, as Biden will ensure his funeral is treated properly (with a state funeral if that’s what Carter and his family wanted). I would not be sure of Trump doing so.
