Restaurants that take your drink to refill it

Owwwwieee!

I think I sprained my eyes!

If you changed from the standard, then you know what the “problem” is. Just click over to the appropriate page. Jesus christ, half the members on this board want their pants unzipped for them when they have to take a piss.

Would you mind? Thanks, I appreciate it… and could you possibly lend a hand?

In India, it’s considered unhealthy to drink while eating. People wait to take in fluids until they’ve completely finished eating.

 I’ve never had a waiter take away a drink to refill it.
What type of beverage and why are they taking away it away to refill it?

I usually have a Sprite, or whatever similar drink they have. I’ve usually drank most of it by the time they bring my food, so they take it to refill it. It’s not all or even most restaurants that take the glass to refill it, but a good number of them do. Usually the Mexican restaurants do, but at least many of them leave you with water as a backup.

Sorry, but that still doesn’t sound normal.

I confess, that I’m unable to follow this thread, it seems (a) a bit erratic and (b) more like a Pit thread. However… Cisco, this sort of generalized insult of other posters doesn’t really fit Cafe Society. Please, let’s try to keep whatever this discussion is about, civil and polite.

Sorry, I thought this was a Pit thread.

For the people complaining of hiccups while eating food without liquid, you’re probably eating too fast. I get the same problem sometimes and liquid always cures it, but I can easily eat without a drink, and any time I get those hiccups, it’s because I’m really hungry and inhaling my food.

Oh, great, all this time I’ve been happy thinking they were bringing me a clean glass. Now I get to worry about if they’ve switched my glass with someone else’s. Great.

Maybe I’m older than most of the people posting here, but I’m still thankful to get free refills, whether they pour it at the table or take the glass to the kitchen to do it. In days of yore you had to pay for each glass full, which, if your family was as tight with money as mine, meant pacing yourself or settling for water for the last half of the meal.

My husband grew up drinking iced tea on the rare occasions when his family (of 8 kids) went out to eat. In Texas, in those days, iced tea was cheaper than sodas…and had free refills, whereas sodas were charged by the glass. I do remember asking permission to order another glass of Dr. Pepper, as opposed to drinking water for the rest of the meal.

Just poking some fun at myself. I do that a lot.

I’m in the habit of marking my glass with a certain kink in my straw or by placing the lemon wedge a certain way, etc… Gives me a fighting chance.

I hate when they pull that touchy feely crap.

Yeah, like one less glass of water per person per day is gonna even remotely compare to all the other water uses
