Ok, I’m set up for my home computer (to my utter disbelief)…pokerroom and AIM. I’m not sure if it matters by my AIM id has a space between Yeticus and Rex (and the Y and R are caps) = **Yeticus Rex** **Etherman** , I’m a noob at online HE too, but tonight’s game is a practice run, so consider it a noob game to get our feet wet. I noticed you can start a chat room by going on your Buddly List Window, then while you have the ‘SDMB Poker’ Group Highlighted (this is a new group that you have created beforehand with all of our AIM id’s that are online at that time): Go to: People/Send Chat Invitation/ All of the online SDMB Poker id’s will automatically get moved to the invite window and then press send. Only one player needs to do this, and it should be **xray** , although I could volunteer to do it instead. Let me know. I suppose it would be best if **xray** (or me) did this after the everyone is seated at the table so he doesn’t have to re-invite stragglers if he did this too early. Everyone should also be logged on to AIM by 6:55-7:00pm so it can be done quickly without any hassle. **Haj** , go get AIM since we have a list of 13 players with AIM already. This should work. But then again, I’m a noob…but a curious one. ---

Since we have about 12 dopers who think they might be available tonight, here’s the plan. At 9:45 est. I’ll start create a private table. It will be called “xravision88’s HE”. The first nine dopers who try to enter into the private poker room will be invited in. Make sure you follow the directions I gave in the OP (along with the changes I made in posts #2 and #3). If the table is full and there are two or more dopers not let in, you can just create your own private table and follow along with the playing rules in the OP. In the future we’ll have things more organized with exactly how many tables we’re going to use, who sits where, etc. We’re just getting our feet wet tonight. This is another reason that AIM will come in handy. We can all chat in a private room even if not all of us are at the table yet. Those having technical difficulties with Pokerroom or those with questions will be able to ask. Also, if Pokerroom kicks losers out, they can still chat and see how the game is going. I’ll invite everyone on **hajario** ’s list above into a private chat room at about 9:45 also. If your AIM isn’t on the list, please post it. FYI: **Yeticus Rex** and **hajario** ’s list should be titled: AIM id = SDBM id not Pokerroom id = SDBM id ---

I realized there will be one more major problem. If no one raises our modified big blind, the modified big blind never gets a chance to bet. Solution: In the first blinds schedule, out modified big blind amount is 40. If anyone wants to see this exactly, but not raise, he has to see it plus add $1 ($41 total). This gives the big blind a chance to raise if he wants to. We’ll have to do this in every round, even when only two people are left. ---

Well, it definitely was a learning experience. Number 1 lesson: Almost all my ideas suck! It is too hard to manually adjust the blinds. Especially when the table had no big blind and it took me a few hands to realize it. It was fine playing just the way Pokerroom has it layed out but we have to make sure our table has both a small and big blind next time. Do you guys wanna make the blinds bigger next time since they never change? The game started at about 10:30 (because of a player who had technical difficulties and shall remain nameless) and ended at midnight est. An hour and a half ain’t bad. I wouldn’t mind keeping things just the way they are until we find a place to host real private play money tournaments (if ever). If the game was official, these would have been the point scores (lowest being best): 1. Yeticus Rex 2. Cynical Gabe 3. Nanook of the North Shore 4. hajario 5. Kyyrewyyoae 6. x-ray vision 7. CapnPitt 8. Aesiron 9. Omniscient 10. Otto **Omniscient** and **Aesiron** both lost it all on the same hand, but since **Aesiron** had more chips, he gets rank. Congratulations **Yeticus Rex**! He knows how to take a lead and keep it. Nice show. One change I have in mind for the ranking system. How about we keep tally of who has the best rank and post the final results quarterly and have a quarterly champion? This way every quarter your past play goes out the window. This gives newbies who have gotten better a chance to improve their average without trying to make up for how bad they once played. We’ll start keeping tally next Thursday and have a first quarter champ at the end of March. Oh, you still have to play in at least three games for your rank to count. ---

If you want in on next Thursday’s game, e-mail me anytime Thursday before 8pm est. (not before Thursday though). If we have 11 or more people we’ll have to have two tables going. What I’ll do is pick names out of a hat and you will get a table and seat assignment. Two people will also be picked to be the first to click SIT IN and play the b.s. round (no betting). I’ll make sure its different people each week. ---

Something I should have mentioned but forgot about…if you want to play on PR with the group then you must have your PR account real money enabled. You don’t have to deposit but you have to be enabled. If you’re not then you’ll be on a different server and won’t be able to access the same tables (including the private tables created for these tourneys).
