Sometimes the sign is left in place and reused by the new tenant. We had a small strip-mall Chinese restaurant named Shandong China move to a new location. The new tenant, another Chinese place named their business Shanwong China. They painted out the “d” on the outdoor sign and scraped it off the painted-on window artwork. For many years, all one saw from the outside was Shan ong China.
