[The United States Climate Alliance](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Climate_Alliance) comprises a group of states in the United States committed to upholding the 2015 [Paris Agreement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Agreement) on climate change within their borders. It was formed on June 1, 2017, by three state governors—Jay Inslee of Washington, Andrew Cuomo of New York, and Jerry Brown of California—after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the United States withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.

That was the Oregon Petition, debunked so many times that only the ones that are certifiably gullible continue to use it as a talking point.

I’d like one of Trump’s defenders to cite any time his sort of thinking has worked to a country’s benefit. We had a booming economy in the 1950s, churning out automobiles, airplanes, televisions, steel, and a hundred other things. We had those industries because a generation before, people like Henry Ford, the Wright brothers, and Philo Farnsworth could see what the future was going to need and they wanted to be part of it. The U.S. embraced computers, space exploration, and biotech, and has healthy industries in those sectors. The Big Three automakers in Detroit sat on their laurels and made big gas guzzlers in the '70s when the market wanted smaller, more efficient cars, and Japan came into the market in a big way. We should be the first country making solar panels, not the last one digging coal mines.
The future has always belonged to those countries that accept it’s coming and take hold of it with both hands. Donald Trump would have us be the last country making buggy whips.

I think he’s trying to claim that Inslee, Cuomo, and Brown are Jedi arisen from their remote forest moons to engage in lightsaber battles with Darth Trump and Emperor Bannon, but really, this is mostly coming off like the stupid Mel Brooks parody of _Star Wars_. Anyway, Trump couldn’t hold a lightsaber because his hands are…never mind, all too easy. Anyway, I’m just hoping to be frozen in carbonite for the duration and then rescued in a plan less desperate than my would-be rescuers successively allowing themselves to be captured and nearly swallowed by a fanged sand vagina.
I had a point when I began this but it has since escaped me like Rebel scum flying through an asteroid field.
