OP: The reason you continue to get all this is that American advertisers have the American lawmakers in their pockets. If you don’t want junk mail, the way to get rid of it is to campaign to get rid of corporate lobbying.

I’d gladly pay $1 a letter if that extra income made up for lost revenue from refusing to deliver/handle junk mail.

Maybe I’m too laid back, but I just empty my box, go through my mail, and drop the junk in the garbage instead of making a huge issue out of it.

I will say, though, that if Comcast Infinity disappeared from the face of the earth, half my junk mail would disappear. I get something from them at least twice a week, every week.

As I posted before, I disagree 100%. I’m glad to suffer the incredible burden of junk mail if it keeps first class postage lower than it would otherwise be.

Hey, great idea!! I’ll start up a new company and employ hundreds of people so others can feel better about the environment.

Comcast really sucks with their relentless mailings, what really pisses me off though is they sometimes have these plastic “post cards”. These are offering a certain price that is only good for approx. four weeks but the plastic will be around for hundreds (thousands) of years before it decomposes. How may tons of plastic is used for this temporary offer?

I appreciate the OP’s rant, but little he can do. I have a similar rant about the antiquated “Yellow Pages” phone books that are just thrown in my yard about twice a year. It amounts to littering.

Now this rant I can get behind. Who the hell in this day and age needs a phone book? Who under the age of 80 still looks things up in a phone book?

But the printers can still extort money from businesses because they think that if the book is still being printed, a business needs to have its ad in there right next to their competitors. So it works, a book that is rarely used still sells ads as if they mean something.

All those about to chime in to report that they still rely on the phone book or yellow pages, please don’t. I still respect you, for now.
