> Any chance this started because you watched that Twilight Zone episode about the earwig that layed eggs in the guys brain and/or had a nun tell you a story about little kids living in squalor who had cockroaches crawl into their ears? Because that’s why I do the exact same thing.

Well, yes. That, and the whole _Star Trek: the Wrath of Khan_ earwig thing. :o

And I must sleep starkers. Can’t stand having a stitch of clothes on.

Not even if I wear the muzzle to bed? I can make plenty of noise and I’m not in the least offended by beautiful nekkid women.

I talk in my sleep. One time, I said something about “Free Willy,” and last week I said something about albums being covered with snow. The strange thing is that i remember some of these.
I toss and turn a lot too. My back gets sore if I’m in one position for too long.
I also sleep with my hands under my head, like in a cartoon or something.
I need to have noise and/or light when I sleep, too. My family just moved to a new house, and when I’m there, I have to turn on the radio and leave my door partially open. Then again, maybe this is because the house is kind of creepy.

My SO uses 3 pillows. When she is not there at night, or ifI am traveling, I lay her pillows end to end to “simulate” a body is there and then throw a leg over it. I can’t fall asleep unless I do this.
The odd part? When she is there, I don’t touch her at all while sleeping. It wakes me up to have skin to skin contact.

I read somewhere that your sleep chemicals (melatonin and serotonin?) work best in total dark. I’ve started covering my digital clock numbers, and I do seem to be sleeping better.

Mine is the same as yours, **Anaamika**. The sheet and blankets must be untucked so my feet can come out if needed. Apparently my maternal grandmother was the same way - maybe it’s genetic. What makes it interesting in my house is that my husband _must_ have the sheet tucked in - it’s tucked in on his side, and untucked on mine.

My husband sleeps the same way, and I have gotten conked in the head from his elbow more than once. Our 8 month old son has now started sleeping the same way. Very cute, but I fear his future wife is in for the same fate.

I sleep with the fan on, alarm clock covered, curtains drawn, feet in socks, always pajama-ed, covers up to my chin, one foot sticking out, with my head at the foot of the bed. Oh, and I always kick my socks off during the night, so by the weekend there’s a small pile of them under the head of my bed.

I sleep face down. I ball up my pillow and wedge it under my forehead. Some nights, the pillow sproings out flat and I wake up with a killer headache because I’ve been trying to breathe through stuffing.

Socks in bed are evil. How do I know? **Stonebow** wears socks to bed. He is evil. I do not wear socks to bed. I am not evil. Granted, this theory may need further research, but my findings thus far support it.

I don’t know if it counts as a quirk, since it’s completely beyond my control, but I become cold like a corpse when I sleep. You know how some people (especially small children) will give off heat when they sleep? Like a little radiant heater? I am the complete opposite of that. Even if I sit still for very long, my hands and feet will get ice cold. My husband tries to tell me that this is because I am cold-blooded like a reptile, but I don’t listen to him. He’s evil. I retaliate for such slanderings by snuggling my icy cold self next to him at night. When he least expects it.

My quirks are mostly a combination of those mentioned by others here.

- I have to sleep naked
- I have to sleep in a cold room (window cracked in the winter)
- I have to sleep with earplugs _and_ a fan
- I have to sleep in a completely dark room (I have hotel blackout drapes and curtains and cover the clocks)
- I have to sleep with the bedroom door closed
- I sleep with two body pillows (largely because I’m trying to train myself to sleep on my side)

Not hard enough to draw blood; just hard enough to scare them into always covering it with underpants, pyjamas, or something.

OK, I am weird as hell, but this probably would not bother me. It might make me think my bed partner wanted something, but it would not be a problem after the first time.

I also wear socks to bed and I am nowhere near evil. Evil lives in San Jose, and he doesn’t wear socks to bed.

I need something sticking out, be it a foot or arm or ear. something needs air! It doesn’t matter if it is summer or winter. I have found that white noise can be a problem as well.My last girlfriend did not like the normal filtering sound coming from my aquarium. It just depends basically. Everyone is so different. 🙂

I like sleeping with a full bed. I’m happiest when Mrs. Foible, the two dogs, and the cat are all curled up with me in our king size bed. Even if it means I have to sleep twisted up to make room for everybody.
When the sun starts to come up the little dog will crawl under the covers between me and Mrs. Foible. We have a contest for who gets the good side of the dog (the back with the fur) or the bad side. (the feet with the toenails) Whoever moves the least gets the good side because little dog uses the toenails to keep the moving party at bay.

Hmmm. You wear socks and are not evil. You know evil who wears no socks.
I’ll have to give this some thought whilst I plot in my lair…er…while I am thinking happy thoughts in my favorite sunny thinking spot.
Additional quirk to mention: I cannot have just one covering (as in just a sheet). I have to have a sheet and a blanket or quilt or something, even in the summer. I need to feel the weight of the covers pressing down on me, and the sheet is just too light.

I’m not evil (looks at arm). Just wicked.

Big difference.

Yeah, I forgot about the cover weight thing, too, **Faerie**. Even in the heat of summer, I need my comforter draped across my midsection.

Jeeze, don’t I have any sleeping quirks that no one else has? I’m so…pedestrian. Oh, I’ve got one - I can wake myself up at any time (within about five minutes) without an alarm clock. All I have to do is tell myself when to wake up, and I’ll wake up at that time.

I need to sleep with my big foofy comforter, but I have trouble sleeping if it’s too hot. It doesn’t matter if it’s the dead of summer, I’ll have the air conditioner blasting as I lie in my cocoon of blankets.

I talk in my sleep on a fairly regular basis. It’s usually something bizarre. I know this not only from the reports of my roommates, but also because I sometimes wake myself up. On more than one occasion, I was singing rather than talking. My sister says she’s sometimes had whole conversations with me, thinking that I was awake until my answers became so bizarre that it became obvious I was sleeptalking. Usually these answers include the nonsensical use of swear words.

On a more mundane note, I always turn my covers sideways. My feet get hot when I sleep, so I like them to stick out the end. I also like to snuggle the wad of extra covers when I sleep in the fetal position.

Also, I do not have a preferred sleep position. I sleep on my side, my stomach, my back–whatever feels comfortable on a given night. I understand this is pretty unusual.
