I can’t sleep unless the TV is on in the background on sleep timer and I also can’t sleep unless my exposed ear is well… unexposed.

Since we got a king-size bed this hasn’t been a problem for **Mrs. Cliffy**. As noted above, however, I have been known to punch, and on one occasion I dreamt I was in an elevator where the buttons offered no resistence and I kept pressing and pressing until the button yelled and I realized it was her shoulder.

Lemme see: I need virtually total darkness to sleep, no noise (except a fan in midsummer), and I can’t be touching anyone in the bed - essentially no sensory input whatsoever. I’m trying to train myself to not have a problem with light touch at least, with little success. I swear I wasn’t always this way, but I have no idea when or where it happened. It feels really awkward to explain why you can’t touch the one you’re with.

I can only go to sleep on one side or the other, never back or stomach. I do often wake up on my back though. Again this came on over the last 10 years or so, for no obvious reason.

And in the last few years my pillow needs have escalated to near the point of unsustainability. I now need 4 - one under my head, one between my thighs, one under my waist (these two need to be very thin) and one in the space between my chest and arms to keep them apart - IOW I can’t even touch myself

I always sleep nude, but that’s by preference not need; I can put a t-shirt on if really cold. Same with socks.

Except in the most cloying heat I have to have at least a sheet over me.

What I’d like most is some sort of self-cooling pillow - I love the feel of cool cotton on my face and I hate it when I’ve warmed it up, I’ll often flip the pillow over to get some more coolness.

OMG - I thought _I_ was the only person in the world who was that depraved in their sleep! Fortunately, my SO, much like Mrs. Gaffer, finds it endearing (or so she says).

I generally prefer to sleep on couches. I think this is because there’s less pressure (such as it is) to get to sleep. If I pass out, great; if not I’m relaxing on the couch. In bed, if I’m not falling asleep, then all of sudden I’m failing at my task, and then I’m thinking about how I can’t fall asleep, at which point I have to get up and try again 30 minutes later.

I can’t sleep naked either.

I’ve been sleeping on the right side of the bed for years and have an extremely hard time falling asleep on the left side. It just feels uncomfortable.

I can’t sleep facing a mirror unless there are other people in the room. I think it has something to do with horror movies or something. Like, I am afraid that I’ll see the reflection of something that isn’t supposed to be there in the mirror.

Sometimes I will randomly decided to reverse the way I lay on the bed. For example, if my feet are by the fishtank normally, occasionally I will wake up in the middle of the night and need to sleep with my head by the fishtank. Luckily, this has never happened when I’ve been sleeping with someone else.

OK I if the light is red I can sleep. But if it is green or any other color I will lay awake all night.

OK, I sleep nekkid when my kids are with their dad or elsewhere. Otherwise a long t shirt. If I wear anything else I will strip in my sleep. I can’t sleep nekkid when the kids are home because I have this irrational fear the house will catch on fire & I will be outside buck nekkid with my kids. Stupid, yes I know, but it still freaks me out. Apparently I am fine with being outside buck nekkid if my kids aren’t home when the house catches fire…

As I said earlier only red light. Any other light will keep me up. I once left an ex BF’s house cause his alarm clock had green light & I couldnt fall asleep. I didnt realize until later it was the green light bugging me.

Sheet or blanket on me. Ceiling fan on. 1 leg outside the covers. I must sleep on my pillow. I take it with me when I travel.

I talk in my sleep. I believe the last conversation I had in my sleep was about strippers this past Jan. Or at least that is what my friend Amy said. I have no recollection of this. We were going to the strip clubs the next night so maybe I was excited?

If the SO is here I like to snuggle before I fall asleep. Same routine every night. He spoons behind me for about 10 minutes. Then I turn & put my head on his chest for 10 minutes. Then he turns & I spoon him for 10 minutes, but just before I fall asleep I’ll turn over & sleep butt to butt with him.

I have to wake up to music on the radio. If I set the alarm to the buzzer I will simply incorporate the buzzer alarm into my dream. I will get up in my dream but not in real life. I cant fall asleep to music.

I never realized what a pain in the butt I am about sleep…

I have to fall asleep on my stomach, facing right, head resting on the bed, with the pillow parallel to me, my right arm across it. In other words, the right side of my upper body is raised slightly. I can’t fall asleep on my back or on either side, or with my head on the pillow, but I may wake up that way.

One of our cats likes to sleep with me, well, _on_ me, on top of the blankets, in the space between my legs. If I were in another position, he couldn’t do it. I’d never had a pet who seemed to love me so much that he wanted to sleep with me, so as long as it happens, I cherish it.

It must be dark, although I’m not obsessive about covering the clock or anything.

When I was a lot younger, I used to fall asleep listening to the radio, but I can’t do it anymore. It must be silent, and I have to wear earplugs, or I will lay awake all night or until my body is exhausted and crashes, but at the first sound, I will wake up.

I need a sheet and a blanket, or maybe two blankets. Depending on the thickness, two may be one too many. It seems to me that if my covers are too heavy, I sleep strangely and still feel tired and dragged out all day, even if I get 9 hours of sleep.

There is no window in our bedroom - it’s a sliding glass door, and there is no kind of way it is going to be open at any time of the day or night. The other bedroom windows are nailed shut, probably because the last people who lived here had two daughters. But even if there was a window, it could not be open while I sleep - this is Florida! We have an air conditioner for that purpose.

That’s all, I think!

One leg outside the covers, face under blankets or a drapey, light-blocking stuffed animal. My nose stuffs up if it’s not covered.

I don’t bite, but Mr. Lissar says I talk sometimes. Nothing interesting.

I have to have a blanket. If the weather is hot, I turn on the AC cold enough to where I can use a blanket. I also like a fan on because I like the moving air. In a pinch I can get by with just a sheet but I far prefer the weight of a blanket. Comforters are even better, or quilts.

Also, I can’t stand to have the sheets & blanket tucked in. I have to be able to stick my feet out the bottom.

Lots of pillows. I like to have one between my knees, one under my arm, one over my arm… one in the small of my back… at the moment I don’t have enough pillows for this but when I do…oooooooh. Yummy.

I prefer to have enough light that I can see what is around me. I used to have to sleep with the full lights on… I was afraid of the dark until my early 20s (sort of a claustrophobia type of thing) but even after that I just liked the light. Now I actually sleep better with it darker, but I don’t like not being able to see when I open my eyes… though at least it doesn’t scare me anymore.

I like to stick my feet out…also stuff the entire comforter sort of between my knees and lean up against the rest…also I snore very badly. My hubby calls it the orchestra - sometimes ALL the instruments come to play and sometimes it’s only one or two. Apparently whipping the pillow out from under my head is the solution although it has been known to bring about the "mumbles.

My husband doesn’t exactly hold a conversation but will say one sentence, very clearly and loudly sometimes. One night it was "I’m sure I heard the transmission fall out’. Imagine that out of a sound sleep!

I have been known to laugh out loud.

I had a dorm roommate who would relive boot camp in his sleep. he would be sleeping straight as an arrow holding a dream rifle across his chest. The occasional “Yes Sir!” would sound out. I wish now that I had tried to give him some orders.

Similar to **Fishbicycle**. Usually fall asleep on my front with a pillow propped under one shoulder. I actually cuddle the pillow, and no I don’t want the psychological reasons for such.
Has to be virtually silent and darker the better. Fresh air’s a real good thing for me too.

I cannot sleep naked. I have to have at least a shirt on because I don’t seem to be able to control my body temperature otherwise. If I don’t have a shirt on, I’ll get really cold and then pull the blankets around me and then get really hot and then cold and then hot. It’s terrible so I just always wear something.

Like **featherlou** , I can wake up without an alarm clock. I only have trouble a few days out of the year in the middle of winter when it’s really dark in the morning. Other than that, I always wake myself up.

I can’t stand to have a radio turn on to wake me up. If I hear voices on the radio, I get freaked out because I think someone’s in the room. And then even when I realize it’s just the radio, it still feels like an invasion of my space somehow.
