I’m not a sports fan, but don’t they have weekday practices?
My less rhetorical question: Would there be a clause in his salary agreement, or in the union contract, giving management the right to say yea or nea to any part-time job during the season?
Yes. NFL players technically get one day off a week (typically Tuesdays) during the season, but very few players actually take that day completely off – they’re usually in the weight room, getting treatment for injuries, and studying film.
(And, I recognize that @LSLGuy put a /s (scarcasm) at the end of his post about football being simply a weekend job.)
Building? As in football stadium? I guess he won’t be a literal hypocrite unless Kennedy attends his home games.
How can the New York Jets be dumb enough to not have a contract clause requiring approval for second jobs during the season? I would think part-time job issues aren’t unknown, and that management would see focus and practice negatives.
Aaron Rodgers isn’t that dumb. He knows he’ll never actually be in any danger of having to choose between football and anything else.
In the meantime, he gets his ego stroked, which seems to be the prime motivation. Maybe he’s got long term political ambitions, but I doubt it. A lot of his social media engagement appears to be designed to stoke outrage and generate buzz and feed his perhaps desperate need for attention.
Sounds like he’s doing the opposite of Perot, rather than trying to lay claim to the center between the two parties, he’s trying to circle the horseshoe, by uniting the far right and far left in their dislike of the current status quo. I don’t think it will work, as anyone who has played Steve Jackson’s Illuminati knows, fanatic is opposite of fanatic.
I lived in Minnesota during his tenure, and heck, I even voted for him, given the terrible (and boring) choices that year. Like everyone else, I was totally surprised when he won.
Ventura’s biggest accomplishment (in my opinion) was when Minnesota had a budget surplus. Republicans wanted to cut taxes, Democrats wanted to increase spending, but he came up with an unusual option - for the time - rebate checks, aka “Jesse checks”. He also got Minnesota on the path to new sports stadiums (stadii?) and increased educational spending. He was doing OK until he got a burr under his saddle about the press asking him too many questions, and decided in a snit not to seek reelection. I don’t think he would have won, since voters had enough of him after four years. But he still be fun to have a beer with.
Yes, having a VP (Rodgers) who believes that Sandy Hook was a “false flag” is a wonderful idea. I hope he runs with it. It can only help his campaign. /s
Rogers is not joining the ticket. He’s a troll. If you spent any time watching him speak it’s obvious he’s a troll. He loves sticking it to The Man by getting everyone riled up. He’s loving the attention. He’s also not stupid. He knows Jr isn’t going to win. He is not going to give up his football contract. The salary cap deferment means that he not only has to be on the team for this season but also the next season. For his ego he also wants to come back from his injury and prove he can still play. He will smirk at the camera and enjoy the attention while it lasts but he’s not going to join the campaign.
