Googling, the US Constitution Party is far-right and perhaps so is the Libertarian Party? but most of those are on the left side of the aisle.
I won’t call the Libertarian Party far right in its true form. Those in the far right have tried to frame their arguments as Libertarian but it doesn’t fit much of the party platform. For instance they are for open borders.
3.4 Free Trade and Migration
“We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders.”
I know but it struck me that most of those other parties were liberal or on the left side.
Other than the Greens and Libertarians I have no idea who those people are and how they got on the ballot.
But, back to our discussion in this thread and several others, the current leadership of the Libertarian party IS largely a far-right interpretation of the platform after the last set of leadership coups.
So, I think @Dewey_Finn’s identification of the Libertarian party is far-right is correct. Now, there’s always the chance that those forces will loose their grip and return to their prior stance, but… who knows. And of course, @loach could be referring to any of the splintered variants of the Libertarian party who refused to go along with the new leadership:
The requirements are different in each state. In California, to qualify for a primary or general Presidential ballot, a party has to meet one of three requirements:
- Its candidate(s) received at least 2% of the vote in the most recent election for Governor;
- At least 1/300 of the registered voters, not counting those registered as “No Party Preference” (California’s term for “independent”), are registered in that party;
- Within 135 days of the primary/election, the party submits a petition with a number of signatures equal to 10% of the total number of votes cast in the most recent election for Governor.
There was this TV series with Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman and some others called Leverage which featured a crew of skilled grifters who spent each episode fucking up some person or group that seriously deserved it. It had the underdog-wins appeal to it, but in the context of contemporary bullshit, seems to only have normalized and validated cunning, deceitful action. At least, to the extent that anyone has watched it. The sequel/spinoff series is currently in production for its third season.
Sounds like a US version of Hustle
It reminded of the old Mission Impossible TV show. A great cast of characters pulling off ludicrous capers.
Junior is 4th on the Presidential ballot in my Kentucky county, below Jill Stein but ahead of Shiva Ayyadurai.
Decisions, decisions…
Oh, dear Lord…
You don’t suppose…?
Secretary of Whale Decapitation
He could be the head of US Fish and Wildlife.
But, you know, just the head.
That’s a whale of a tale you’re spinning there, sir.
A round of whale juice for everyone!
Any such appointment would just be a fluke.
Literally.
Fluke: 1. a parasitic flatworm
But it would certainly make waves.
No Bobby, please don’t antagonize the narcissistic bully! I’d sure hate for you to be out on your butt! Not that I expect you to have a long career in the Trump administration anyway.
