Beyond the money that RFK Jr.'s campaign is funneling to sleazy antivaxers like Del Bigtree*, it’s a cinch he’s gotten $$$ from antivaxers. The virulently antivax Age of Autism, while piously assuring readers it’s non-partisan, has been facilitating donations to RFK Jr. and his “superPAC”.
*Bigtree is the activist and “film” producer known for saying “Now’s the time” for antivaxers to use their guns to defy vaccine mandates. By his own report, he nearly died from blood loss from internal hemorrhoids while refusing transfusions that might’ve been “contaminated” by the blood of vaccinated people.
I like the idea of enemies of the People dying of hemorrhoids. Seems fitting somehow. He’ll have to try harder next time.

RFK Jr is just lying on purpose to generate outrage so he can get more donations. I don’t think it has to be more complicated than that. It’ll probably work, too.

He’s running for the attention and grift opportunities.
As a Republican candidate he’d be distrusted by much of the party faithful due to his background and name, and besides, the competition is tougher on the G.O.P. side.
MAGA does it a lot better than MAGA Jr.
And regardless of what positions he espouses, it would be hard for a Kennedy to garner much support from a Republican voter base.
There is precedent after all for someone like this to run as a Dem – Lyndon LaRouche kept trying to run as a Democrat for decades. The Democrats have historically been more open to such “colorful” pretenders but that did make them generally more effective in preventing them from getting far.
And as mentioned by others, among the MAGAs (a) there is a ton of bad blood against all the great Democrat names of the past century and (b) it’s a TRUMP cult, the platform is irrelevant.
MAGA Jr.'s protest over not being given early Secret Service protection includes what may be a dog whistle to white supremacist/skinhead groups (the numbers 14 and 88 have special significance to these folks).
