# Rhode Island ranks lowest for 2nd straight year

I’m from MA, and I got a 75.
I’m thoroughly embarassed that I scored below the RI average, because I’ve driven in that state, and some of the drivers are god awful.
Although I did know to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk, and that the roads are most slippery after a dry spell

I am not surprised by the bottom five of the State by State results, I knew NJ, DC, NY & Mass would be very low. I am surprised by RI. I would have guess Conn.

Don’t be surprised. As stated above, I live in Rhode Island and I’m here to say, my state-mates are really terrible drivers. What with the complete disregard for the turn signal and arbitrary taking and giving of right of way in a manner not allowed by law - it’s chaos.

My favorite RI move was when the driver in front of me going through Providence in the middle lane of I-95 came to a complete stop from 65 mph, then went again. No reason, just a complete stop on the highway.
Visitors from MA needed to be met at the door with a good stiff drink when they got to my apartment in Pawtucket - and that’s only a couple of miles of RI drivers.

I don’t know what I got wrong.
Maybe about hydroplaning - they didn’t have anti-lock brakes when I was learning to drive. I said no brakes, slow down via no gas until you get traction. Is that right, or do anti-lock brakes make that obsolete?

Okay, okay, that’s not typical!
Nevertheless, those curves on 95 in Providence are scary as hell. I really don’t like driving on the highway around here at all and could totally imagine just giving up right in the middle of the road, stopping and calling my husband to come get me.

I scored 90. Although I now live in Indiana, I took driver’s ed in Ohio.
