Rhode Island ranks lowest for 2nd straight year

I was reading an article on this this morning. Now I’ve not spent much time driving in the northeast but I was really struck by the fact all northeastern states did poorly, all ranking in the bottom half of the survey, except for (as bouv also noticed) Vermont. Not only did Vermont escape the lower half, they blew the curve with a 3rd place rank.

Is Vermont really a safe driving island in a sea of dangerous automaniacs?

You mean when I did back here?

I just don’t understand the emphasis on high scores in a written test when it is certainly not reflected on actual driving ability. Oregon drivers are rude, crude and socially unacceptable in their driving abilities, with Washington State drivers are not far behind. I know, I deal with them all the time.

100%.
Wisconsin.

Still, #17 with its bad wording was sort of a guess. The pedestrian one is pretty easy if you think about it. Are you ever not going yield to a pedestrian, jaywalking or not? (Hint: if you answer “yes”, cut up your driver’s license)

I was taught to turn the wheels away from the curb when parking going up a hill. This would keep the front of the car from getting out into traffic in the case of parking brake failure. Obviously, the unstated part is that you have to park close enough to the curb for your right front tire to catch it.
