Damn you all! I was going to come in here like a hero and talk about Alton Brown’s recipe. I have not found it to be too salty myself. Quite tasty and very tender.

Since we’re on the topic of AB and smokers, I’d like to say that I built one of his flower pot smokers, and it rocks. Alton claims his only cost $47.32, but my rig ran me closer to $60. Still a bargain. Temperature management isn’t super precise, but with minor adjustments, you can keep the temp in the happy zone.

I made the pork shoulder that he does in that episode, and it was fabulous. Best thing I’ve ever made outside the house.
