Well, yeah: the guy rides around on what also proves to be a remote-controlled drone, which bears something of a resemblance to the one in that clip, and — uh, spoilers, I guess? — it eventually doesn’t work out all that well for him.

[Ehang](http://www.ehang.com/ehang184) has been developing an autonomous electric flying vehicle for a while now, and already been doing [test flights with passengers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr1V-r2YxME).

[Airbus](https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/1/16961688/airbus-vahana-evtol-first-test-flight) and [Lilium](https://lilium.com/) have also tested full-size autonomous electric vehicles.

Here’s a [recent Economist article](https://www.economist.com/news/science-and-technology/21738353-could-dream-soaring-above-traffic-come-true-passenger-drones-are) about these businesses.

Your economist link is behind a paywall for me.

In any case, autonomous or not, there is still the issue of reliability both in regular operations and in an emergency, as well as current FAA regulations.

I assumed it was because a worker was decapitated filming Spider-Man with Tobey. Much the way Vic Morrow died (lost his head to a helicoptor blade on a movie set), and we just had another decapitation on the world’s tallest Water Slide That Sounds Like a German AusFahrt.
