Not wanting to push the Mondegreen spinoff any more than has already been done, and not wanting to stress how long its been since I became aware of it, I’ll go ahead and say that the lyrics to Mairzy Doats, which was all the rage when I was a toddler, finally became clear when I listened to the “explanation” part of the song. And to save those of you who couldn’t care less the trouble of googling or whatever, they’re:

Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. And kids’ll eat ivy, too, wouldn’t you?

The WWII years were replete with this sort of nonsense.

Which always makes me want to answer, “Hell, no!” I mean, I know food was rationed during WW2, but that’s going too far…

The arrow in the Fed Ex logo was pointed out to me recently, but it’s not really that obvious. You can see each letter of Toyota in the Toyota logo too if you look for it.

[QUOTE=ShermanAter]
I have always been a huge fan of Jackson Browne. I played that album _Runnin’ on Empty_ till it was worn out.

I got a chance to see him and his band, 15 years or so after that album was released and they were absolutely great. I mean they hit every note of every song. I couldn’t have been more pleased.

Then they played _Rosie_

And I finally got it.

I laughed so hard I damn near pee’d myself.

Here is a link to the song. I hope you like it.

In the beginning you think that it’s about a woman named Rosie but you eventually figure out that Rosie is the guy’s hand as in “Rosie Palmer.”

_Rosie, it’s just you and me again tonight_.

I never made the David & Goliath -\> Michelangelo’s David connection either, but I didn’t feel so bad after studying it in an Italian Renaissance class. It doesn’t look like most depictions of David ([Donatello’s](http://dasanpiero.googlepages.com/donatellodavid9.jpg/donatellodavid9-custom;size:502,900.jpg), for instance), and it was remarked at the time of its creation that it looked more like Apollo than David (which it does).

Also,

[QUOTE=Kizarvexius]
Not quite as obvious to those of us on this side of the pond, but it finally occurred to me one day that “Eeyore” is the Brit speak equivalent of “hee-haw”.

Hey, y’all, I just had the heavy thought that many of the songs that include the innocent word “you” may take on an entirely different meaning if “ewe” is substituted. Not that any of these really do the trick, but maybe there are some better ones around:

Ewe’re driving me crazy
I love Ewe
Ewe’re the cream in my coffee
I say a little prayer for ewe
Ewe belong to me
I’ll see ewe in my dreams

You could be right. I started to use that version, but something about “kids’ll” as opposed to “kid’ll” was running through my mind. (I was thinking about goats in either case.)

Maybe the “official lyrics” exist online. I didn’t look before posting.

Thanks. I checked for the “kids’ll” version and only found one hit. It was a chat page. So much for my memory’s version.

My confession: I saw JB in concert when the song first came out and didn’t know it either until he intro’d the song with a story about the unlucky soundman who was the subject of the song.
