Sounds to me like he looked at the set of Movies He Did Not Like and then deliberately narrowed it to a list that fit his agenda that “the studio establishment took aim at men in the Western world and promoted several projects full of degeneracy”. …and, really, as if degeneracy were not a favorite of audiences and producers alike for a hundred years. ---

I’m convinced there is a group of people who will look for anything that will bolster their preconceived notion that all Hollywood produces today is “woke garbage,” and if it doesn’t, then the Left will make them do it. On another board, they were discussing the “Sandman” TV series, which was on Netflix, which was based on the _Sandman_ series of graphic novels by Neil Gaiman. “Those woke idiots at Netflix with their woke agenda. I turned it off after a few episodes, because it features a kid who grows up to be gay, and what is going on the truck stop diner episode with all the lesbians and gays? What use is including so many LGBT+ characters if Netflix doesn’t have a woke agenda?” Well, ironically, those characters are that way because that’s how Neil Gaiman wrote them in the books, and the producers wanted to be faithful to the books. And there were reasons for writing them that way. But no, this guy was convinced that it was the Netflix LGBT+ agenda telling the producers that the TV series needed more LGBT+ representation. I suppose that if you’re looking for something to be outraged about, you’ll find it, no matter how faithful it is to the source. As the author of the page linked in the OP likely did. If the poster slamming Netflix as “woke garbage” hated the first season, then he’s really going to hate the second. According to the books, one of the storylines that’s coming up features two lesbians, a witch, and a wannabe-transsexual. ---

Are we sure this isn’t viral marketing? I’ve barely heard of most of those movies, yet now I feel like I should watch them all and do my best to find something to like about them. ---

I noticed that. There was a Brit Cop show called “Handcuffs”? Where one of the main Characters is gay, and there were dozens and dozens of 1 star reviews about it being “woke”. I actually almost feel sorry for these arseholes sometimes. Not that any of these films are in this league, but when films like Fury Road or Prey came out there was a bunch of whinging from dickwads like this about how woke they were. Seriously? They are far and away the best film in the franchise, absolutely mind blowing examples of action sci-fi, this genre you claim to be a megafan of. But you can’t bring yourself to enjoy them because they feature someone of the “wrong” gender or ethnicity? ---

I work with someone like this, who decries anything that has diversity or a woman as the lead. What I suspect is that he doesn’t have an original opinion about anything, and takes all his leads from what he reads online. There’s a kind of “nerds like these properties, I am a nerd, therefore I like these properties” about them that makes me sad. He doesn’t like things because he likes things, he likes them because somebody he admires told him to like them. And then doesn’t like them because somebody told him to dislike them. Such a shame. ---
