# Ring 2 is the worst movie I have ever seen, ever

The title says it all.
This is the only movie I have ever walked out of mid-way because it was so bad. I couldn’t stand it. It wasn’t scary at all (little girls and deer aren’t scary!) and even the “jump scenes” didn’t make me jump because they were SO predictable. The pacing was unbelievably slow and boring, the dialog was unbearable, etc etc. Pure excrement. It’s astonishing to me that this horrible film is at the top of the box-office right now.

I haven’t seen the film, but I seriously doubt it’s any worse than _Boogeyman, Hide and Seek, The Pacifier, Are We There Yet?, Hitch_ of _Diary of a Mad Black Woman_, all of which were #1 at least one weekend in 2005 so far. What’s so astonishing about the sequel of a successful movie being at the top of the b.o. its first weekend? Even if it’s as bad as you say, negative word-of-mouth isn’t going to get out that quickly.

I thought it was good. I think it depends on if you liked The Ring. (I’m talking American version–I haven’t seen the Japanese ones.)
As far as pacing goes, it was actually a LOT like the first movie. Almost identical. You have some creepy action in the beginning. Then there is a long stretch in the middle with no action but some creepy atmosphere and you get some background on what’s going on (like in the first movie when Rachel is doing research on Samara’s past), then you have the creepy action climax at the end. (I like the word ‘creepy.’)
These movies (Ring and Ring 2) are mostly about mood and atmosphere. The scenes where the “monster” (Samara) actually attacks someone are few. This was initially disappointing to me when I saw the first movie. Since then, I’ve grown to appreciate it for the creepy tone it sets throughout. If you’re looking for the type of scary movie where the monster is constantly popping up and killing people, then this isn’t for you.
I still think the climactic scene in the first movie, although pretty cool, is just a little too quick and should have been expanded to give the audience a bigger payoff. Well, the climax in this second movie is better. Some tense moments lead up to it. Then it gets very scary and it lasts plenty long and there are some really disturbing images that will stay with me for a while. (it may not effect everyone the same, but it hits square in the middle of the type of imagery that scares the dickens out of me.)
Anyway, I was impressed that they were able to make a movie that is very similar to the first one in pacing and atmosphere, but the story isn’t a complete rehash of the first movie. I think the first movie is better overall, but the finale in the second movie is scarier and more satisfying.

Ok, I haven’t seen it. That being said, The Ring was scary to me precisely because it was a little girl. Little freaky girls are scary to me…so I think it’s a matter of our personal perspective.
Of course, I could be totally wrong and it could really, really suck.

I would have to agree. I was so excited about the movie coming out and continuing the story, but I was sadly disappointed. I really enjoyed the first one and the story line. I am often very scared by movies, especially if there is suspence and things/people jumping out.
I was sad that the movie went so far from the plot of the video tape into things that are just bizzare. I wish they could have done more with that plot line.
I have a strong feeling that it is at the top of the box office because of the number of people that are anxiously awaiting the movie’s opening. I am interested to see how it fairs next week.

Actually, I just saw _Ringu_ and because the American version follows it so closely, I have to say a lot of it’s freaky value was muted.
I’ve little to no interest in the sequel however; it’s on my “Meh, maybe I’ll catch it on DVD” list.

I have seen Ringu before the Ring, and thought the American version was much better.
Don’t even get me started on Ringu 2 or Ringu 0 which were just plain boring.
By the way Ring 2 is not based on Ringu 2.
It is a completely new story.

Seen it, and yeh I was scared, it’s not scary when you’re with people, but when your alone, in a BIG house…
I thought the sequel and prequel were better.

I wouldn’t say it follows it closely at all. They destroyed the entire plot. There is no way they could continue on with following the _Ringu_ Series because they veered so far from it.

The American version was better, for what it was, a scary movie. It was not the deeply plotted drama horror that _Ring Cycle_ was. It also had a much higher budget remember 😉
I’m hoping The Ring 2 will explain the numerous plot-holes in it’s prequel.

I have no desire to see the _Ring_ movies, but I also hated _Blair Witch Project_. Cool marketing campaign, horrible movie.

I didn’t see The Ring, but saw Ring 2 with my wife. I don’t usually care for these types of movies, but there was nothing scary about Ring 2. During the deer scene I was laughing out loud in the theater. Not hilarious funny, but stupid funny. What the hell was that about?
I was really hoping the kid would be killed early since he was so creepy. One scene was enough of him, he could have been killed off and turned into a zombie. There were not enough zombies in this movie. A movie like this really needs more zombies. REAL zombies, not silly deer pseudozombies. And if the weird chick from work wants to bring her creepy little son into my house (which is a really nice house for a single newspaper type guy to live in) and the little punk floods the place, I’d kill him myself.
One more thing. The movie made a point that it was set in a sleepy little town where an unusual death was BIG NEWS. Yet later, when the kid walks away from the hospital, no one even bothers to send the police to his house or contact his mother.
