Like everyone, I’m extremely shocked at the sudden death. I didn’t know Autolycus well, but he was the only Doper here with whom I exchanged emails with, since we both got into the JET programme at the same time. Turns out we were both stationed in the north - should have taken the opportunity to visit him when I passed through Aomori. Damn. ---

I decided to wander back after 6 months and saw a thread about **chique** in my subscribed threads which I thought was odd because I was sure it was a couple years old. Then I saw one of the recent comments was about **Autolycus** also being deceased and I was shocked. I had to search out this thread. Sorry for bumping it after two months. I remember when he showed up here and he was a bit … exuberant but also funny. Then he settled in and he was still funny but also proved to be a thoughtful and intelligent poster. He will be missed. ---
