# RIP Bob Edwards

Bob Edwards, who hosted NPR’s _Morning Edition_ for almost a quarter century, had died at age 76.

He was so popular there was widespread outcry when he was reassigned from his hosting job in 2004. Here’s the Dope thread from back then about the change:

I was sad when Edwards left NPR, but I guess not broken up enough about it to find out where he went and follow him there. He was on Sirius/XM, right?

I always enjoyed Friday mornings with Red. That and the movie reviews from Tom Shales always made Fridays worth waking up for.

Same here. I’ll never forget Red referring to him as “Colonel Bob”.

Aw, that sucks. I always loved the sound of his voice. It’s amazing how young 76 sounds. ☹
