Of the stuff I’ve seen him in, my favorite moment with him was in Episode 7 of the first season of _The Mandalorian._ His Greef Karga character had intended to betray Mando, Grogu, and Cara Dune to the Imperials, but when Grogu saved his life, he realized he couldn’t go through with it, and killed the two henchmen left over that he’d brought with him to betray them. And became a good guy. ---

Wow, it seems like just yesterday he was [hiking with Kevin Nealon](https://youtu.be/_C-SJkww4sU?feature=shared) on his youtube channel. He seemed to be in good shape. But the episode was probably filmed more than a year ago, so who knows what happened between then and now. ---

I didn’t know that. But I wondered whether Rocky’s last words to Apollo at his gravesite (“You were the best”) in Rocky IV were a dog whistle. I also didn’t know Weathers was an NFL linebacker. RIP, champ. ---

He recently appeared in a FanDuel commercial with Rob Gronkowski - I thought he’d be making more appearances right about time for the Super Bowl. He’ll be remembered as Apollo Creed for sure. edit: Rob. ---

The decision to make Apollo Creed an interesting and sympathetic character (rather than a simple bad guy) was a piece of real brilliance. And Carl Weathers was outstanding in the part.
