I first saw David Gulpilil in The Last Wave. There was also Walkabout and of course The Right Stuff, among many other films. I always enjoyed his characters.

Thank you, sir, for one of the biggest laughs I’ve had at the movies:

[Neville Bell](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0347858/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): Oh no, you can’t take my photograph.

[Sue Charlton](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0468957/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): Oh, I’m sorry, you believe it will take your spirit away.

[Neville Bell](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0347858/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): No, you got lens-cap on it.

RIP, Nev.

‘Walkabout’ left a lasting impression on me as a school boy. Learning later that Gulpilil was the real deal, and really could go into the bush with woomera and boomerang, and make meat, was way, way cool.
