I remember one moment on his show very well. Some caller had asked why God was not helping him in a particular situation, Gene rsponded: “Ya wanna know why?..It’s 'cause you pissed him off, that’s why.” Then he sat back with that sly smile of his and took a few satisfied puffs off his cigar. I never knew what he was all about, but the guy certainly was a character. ---
