The real hero of _Goldfinger_. While Bond was busy getting knocked out, wrecking his expensive government-provided supercar, captured, recaptured, chained to a nuclear weapon that he couldn’t turn off, being beaten to a pulp by a slow moving manservant, and generally getting sauced, Pussy Galore swapped out the nerve gas canisters for inert gas and notified the US government of Goldfinger’s plans to detonate a Chinese nuclear weapon in the Gold Repository at Ft. Knox. And, with apologies to the fantastic Dame Diana Rigg, she really was the best Avenger. “Over and out.” Stranger ---

Obligatory IMDb [link](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000303/). Last listing is 2015. Did a lot of TV in later years but still did some movies, including _Bridget Jones’s Diary_. A couple years ago I recorded all the old _Avengers_ off one of the OTA oldie channels. I really enjoyed her character, Cathy Gale, in those early, very low budget, ones. (And a vastly better actor than Julie Stevens.) Gale’s character directly led to the style of Mrs. Peel and a legend was born. ---
