RIP my poor, poor, poor 'possum. Clarence has kicked the 'bucket'

Blind and deaf, while sad, still has a quality of life to it. Pain, on the other hand…

I hope to go the same way.

Did she enjoy her food? (Almost certainly; or she wouldn’t have been eating for five years. Not eating in the last day or two is fairly normal.)

Did she like to be patted?

If yes to those, then this:

is the way to go. I really hope I get to match it.

Yes, she ate. She was on canned senior food. Ate her can everyday. (No teeth left)

Did her potty outside like clock work.

When Mr.Wrekker came in she got all excited and slept on his lap in the recliner chair.
And he toted her to her dog bed when he was going to bed.

That was a dog who wasn’t ready to go yet. You didn’t keep her alive a bit longer than she wanted.

I like to believe that. Makes me happy.

My cat, Jasper, who I still miss terribly, had all his teeth removed. He loved dry cat food. He must have had gums of iron.

I recently lost another dog (Ernie) to old age. We had to put him down because of kidney failure. I have one old man left. He’s almost blind and mostly deaf, but still loves to eat and be petted. He tries to find me when I leave the room. If I hear his little feet wandering around, I’ll go find him to let him know where I am, trying not to startle him when I touch him. Harley is the sweetest thing. He loves his mama!

I thought that video was very special. Good on that guy to recue all the animals!

Our neighborhood listserv made me think of Clarence today. Someone asked about having a possum removed from their yard, but they were talked out of it by all the positive things everyone said about the critters. Apparently there’s a cat in the neighborhood with a possum friend.

Yes. I believe feralish cats and possums are natural at foraging for food. Hunger makes friends of many animals.
