I think if you measured output vs impact, Television’s and their album Marquee Moon would be high on the list (they had one other full studio album, Adventure), and a lot of that was his fabulous guitar exchanges with Tom Verlaine.

I have listened to Marquee Moon hundreds of times, and am unsurprised to often see it on lists of influences.

Fred Smith, their bass player, died in February. RIP as well.

Ouch, that hits hard. He has always been one of those New Wave guitarists that rank among my favorite guitar players of all. He also did a great job on Matthew Sweet’s masterpiece “Girlfriend” (together with another one of those guys, Robert Quine!).

But one nitpick, Television actually released three studio albums, they had a small comeback with their self-titled album from 1992, and it’s not a bad one.

Yeah, don’t miss that third one, it is great! “Call Mr Lee” is as good as anything else they ever did IMO.
