I thank you, my dear invisible friends (her term), but I went through grief the other day, and that wasn’t her way. So, to Irish/Welsh up the wake… New pastor just started Sunday, so he was depending on the hagiographies of the other church ladies. Not her entirely, but what she wanted them to think because it’s respectable. She could rarely hold respectable in, so we then told him of: - One of the kids had an pink alien toy that if you dropped in water it would expand enormously. This, a Skippy jar, a medical-looking “human fetus” label, and a minor child to place it among the crosses at a church’s abortion memorial, gave her a one-way ticket to prankster hell. - The other day, Oldest was trying to feed her with a home-(not my home–she trained much of the dumb out of me)-made spoon with a pink foam sleeve to make it easier for folks who’d lost fine motor function to use. Worse yet, it had been signed “Wiley,” close enough to “Willy” for a gag. “Looks like a dildo.” And so on. It is fortunate that the FNG is young, still hip, and not a PITA. Anyway, to anybody who thinks I’m flippant, no, this is me, my immediate family, and the one I married into. ---

☹ I am very sorry. And you can handle your grief however you want. That was one thing that has always been emphasized when I went to grief counselling. There’s no right way. The only other thing I’ll say is to take care of yourself, and honor her the way you deem best. ---
