Sad to see this happen, as I’ve really enjoyed his career. His stint on **Larry Sanders** was nothing short of brilliant, and earned him an Emmy. Alcohol has always been his demon, however. ---

Apparently he has already had at least 2 DUI’s (in just the past few years alone) but have no fear—After this most recent arrest, he has courageously decided to go to rehab. Good way to let the prospective judge know he is serious about being good from here on in… ---

Good grief. And why don’t these rich people just HIRE someone to drive em around and keep an eye on the crazy? I sure wish I could afford to get someone to do that for me. ---

Well, in his defense, the bank was right around the corner from his house and looked remarkably like his house. He apparently broke a window late in the evening and neatly placed his hat and boots by the back door. The cops found him wandering around the teller area with his fly down. He didn’t have the gun out; it was found in his pocket. The thing I used to love about _The Larry Sanders Show_ was wondering how much of Arthur’s character was Rip Torn just being Rip Torn. Now I’m a little sad to see it was rather a lot, really. ---

There is something rogue-ishly badass about the whole episode - in a sad, old-guy, drunk sorta way…😉 …but given that he was originally supposed to play Nicholson’s character of the rebelious lawyer in Easy Rider - well, you can see why he would’ve made sense… ---

From my own experience with snot-slinging, knee-walking drunken hazes, I can see mistaking one building for another. God knows, it’s easy enough to mistake a closet for a bathroom.
